adam heerey

Adam Heerey's memories of his Marion High School athletic career range from thrilling, (coming from behind to beat Haven his senior year of basketball after trailing by 16 at the half) to scary, (a tornado landing right next to his golf meet freshman year) to almost record-breaking after tying a school record with four three-pointers in a game against Hesston.

Adam started his career by playing both golf and basketball his freshman year. He then dropped golf and concentrated on basketball the next three seasons.

This past season Adam was second on the team in three-pointers made.

Once basketball ended Adam decided he didn't want his athletic career to end, so he currently is competing on the MHS track team in the high jump and running events.

He would consider coaching basketball, if anything, after high school, and had a great time at MHS saying, "It's nice to have coaches that truly care about their athletes."

While Adam isn't sure about athletics after high school he does know he will be going to Friends University to study graphic design. He may give basketball a try.

chelsea arnhold

While Chelsea competed in cross country her senior year, track her sophomore and junior year, volleyball her freshman year, and cheerleading all four years, none of those were her passion when it came to MHS athletics.

It was wrestling, which she competed in all four years, that she loved more than anything and excelled in as well.

It provided her with her best memory which was qualifying for the state tournament her freshman year. However, she didn't stop there. Chelsea qualified the next two seasons, and just missed her senior year despite an impressive regular season.

It was her favorite sport because she said, "Most people who are involved in it are dedicated and willing to work hard."

Chelsea amassed 88 victories in her four seasons in a sports dominated by males. She didn't let that bother her, or define her. After wrestling, cheerleading was her favorite because she said it was fun.

This fall Chelsea will be attending the University of the Cumberlands in Williamsburg, Ky., where she will join the wrestling team and major in theatre.

molly rhodes

The first two years Molly attended MHS, her school year was a non-stop athletic event. Her fall and winters were taken up by competing in volleyball and basketball.

When spring rolled around, Molly played softball her freshman year and competed in track her sophomore season.

After her sophomore season Molly decided to concentrate on volleyball and basketball.

Molly described her MHS athletic career as fun, especially during her freshman basketball season. In one game her team defeated Winfield by 60-plus points.

Besides being fun, Molly said sports at MHS have taught her many skills and life lessons.

Her love for sports however will take a back seat to school this fall.

Molly plans to attend Wichita State University to study nursing and hopes to someday become a pediatric nurse.

She isn't completely done with sports however, as she plans to stay active in as many intramural sports as possible.
