Clinton Jeffrey

Clinton has been a member of the MHS baseball team during his four-year career, starting at second base and pitcher for the varsity squad this year.

He always will remember defeating the Hillsboro Trojans five times in five games during his junior year, and also three times in as many games during the junior varsity season.

He thinks he may want to coach baseball down the road, and he surely will tell his players to make sure they know the count. His most embarrassing moment during his baseball career is when he was on first base and started jogging to second after what he thought was ball four to his teammate. Turned out it was only the third ball and he was tagged out.

After graduating in May, Clinton will attend Salina Technical College to study autobody repair. Baseball however will still be in his life because he plans to continue umpiring during the summer.

Josh Kelsey

Josh was busy nearly every semester of his high school career, participating in football and basketball all four years, and baseball three years.

The starting quarterback for Grant Thierolf's football team, Josh threw 13 touchdowns during his tenure, including eight his senior year against one interception. He also led his team to two straight Mid-Central Activities Association championships, his best memory from his MHS playing days.

As he heads out to the real world and attends Kansas State University this fall, he hopefully will forget the time he was hit by a line-drive in the batting cage during practice, but hold onto the league championships no one can take from him.

Kara Holt

Although Kara has participated in volleyball, softball, and basketball at MHS, she has concentrated mainly on softball, finishing up her fourth year on the team this spring.

Her most memorable moment of her sports career so far is playing in the 3A regional championship game her freshman year and coming one out from a trip to the state tournament. Her number one seeded Warriors blew a one-run lead in the final inning after committing multiple throwing errors on the final play of the game. Although it didn't end well for the Warriors, getting that close will stick in her mind forever.

On the lighter side, Kara also always will remember slipping on first base during a game after rounding the bag out in the wet grass. She hopes to have more lighthearted memories and successful seasons after graduation when she attends Allen County Community College to play softball and study pharmacy.

Clayton Garnica

A two-sport, four-year athlete in basketball and baseball, Clayton enjoyed the most success of his MHS sports career during his junior year of baseball. He hit .357 with two homeruns and six RBIs, and was the first Warrior to hit a home run. It was during a home game against Hoisington and was memorable for Clayton because it was the first of his high school career.

While Clayton surely will remember his team's trip to the 4A regional championship game that same year, he also will remember a trip one of his teammates had during practice.

"Preston [Williams] was running around the bases and tripped and started tumbling," Clayton said. "It was hilarious."

This fall Clayton will attend Wichita State University to major in either sports administration or accounting. He would like to try and walk on to the baseball team, and when he graduates, possibly use the sports administration degree and find a baseball coaching job.

"It would give me a chance to pass on my knowledge because I have such a love for the game," he said.
