Sharing a century of wisdom

Good for Carlson and Fruechting! I hope they can get something going in Marion. I'm going to be a cheerleader for them! How about you? We need two things badly, a lumberyard and Kingfisher's Inn. Some small shops, too. It will take three "Ps" — persistence, patience, and push. Cottonwood Falls has shown what attracts city folks. They like to visit small towns which have attractive small stores and of course, good eating places.

Some of my traveling friends tell me that in Italy, gasoline was $7 a gallon, so the people have taken to bicycles. What's wrong with walking to town, to work, or to school? Ouch! Who hit me?

I read where Madonna the actress, fell from her horse and broke some bones, so horses aren't safe.

I'm just full of advice. After all, I should have accumulated some wisdom in 100 years.

I just read David McCullough's book "1776." It really makes you realize what a terrible struggle the Revolutionary War must have been. We need to erect a memorial to those poor soldiers who had no shoes or proper clothing and yet kept on fighting.

I also read "Masie Dobbs," an interesting story placed in England during and after World War I. It is more than a war story, one you can't put down. I always hate for a good story to end, don't you?

I read where new mothers don't have time to read a book. How about reading it out loud while rocking the baby? Babies love to hear their mothers' voices.
