Spread a little good cheer
The holiday season is a time to count blessings and be thankful for what we have. It's also a time to help those who might not be as fortunate.
Marion folks are some of the most generous people around. They always step up to help when someone is in need. The Community Christmas project is an excellent example of Marion residents helping others.
Each year the Community Christmas committee asks for donations of gifts and money, and Marion residents answer the call.
Angel trees have been placed at local businesses. Those who wish to help may choose angels from the trees, purchase the listed gifts, and return them, unwrapped, to Marion Chamber of Commerce or City of Marion offices by Dec. 9.
If you're not a shopper, monetary donations also are needed. The funds are used to purchase food, wrapping paper, and additional gifts.
Choose an angel, buy a gift, make a donation. Spread a little Christmas cheer. It will make a difference in someone's life. Isn't that what the spirit of Christmas is all about?

Angel trees have been placed at Brenda's Bloomers and Gifts, Casey's General Store, Central National Bank, Cottonwood Valley Bank (Florence), The County Seat, Duckwall's, Marion National Bank, Mike's Service Center, Pilsen State Bank (Lincolnville), Tampa State Bank (Marion and Tampa), and Wilbur's Market (Florence).
