Staff reporter

Board members of Marion County Hospital District #1 held its first board meeting since the district assumed management duties Oct. 1.

The board was informed of an anonymous $25,000 gift to St. Luke Foundation. The foundation also received a $500 donation, bringing the balance of funds in the foundation's investment account to $622,830.

Chief financial officer Kevin Cronkleton presented various reports. Consultant Wayne Schultz with Quorum Health Resources also provided information.

The current financial condition of the hospital is typical, Schultz said, following a transition from operations with a management company to independent management.

Greg Bowers, board treasurer, reported a balance of $994,017 which includes the district's checking and investment accounts, and CDs.

The district nearly met its goal of a $1 million balance at the time of transition.

Cronkleton presented bills in the amount of $513,799, with more than $300,000 of that amount the first payment for necessary computer software and upgrades.

CitiCapital was to provide the loan to the district for the computer upgrades, equipment, and training, but had not yet approved the loan agreement.

Cronkleton said the loan company was confused about Banner's involvement. He explained Banner did not audit the facility because its policy was to audit only larger hospitals.

CitiCapital finally accepted the information, Cronkleton said. He was anticipating an approval for the loan.

In the meantime, Cronkleton said the district needed to pay the CPSI bill for the computer upgrade project.

The board approved the bills.
