The living center bakers again used our oven Friday morning to bake two large pans of brownies, one with nuts. The fudgy bars were served, toped with ice cream, that afternoon before playing bingo with Lois Winter and Bill Schimpf.

We used some free time Saturday afternoon to make a small wall display honoring our graduating MHS senior, Megan Schmidt. She plans to major in nursing at Butler Community College and we hope working here has provided her a head-start.

The Rev. Keith Allison was our Sunday afternoon guest minister, replacing Rev. Lange of the Presbyterian church, who was celebrating the arrival of their son, Keenan. The living center family congratulates Jeremiah, Dani, and Sadie, the newborn's family.

A portion of Monday morning was spent preparing for the family potluck meal at noon. As usual, there was a smorgasbord of delicious food including great pies such as pecan and a homemade, hot apple pie.

We worked on our mental muscle with word puzzles Tuesday morning and took our turn with Bonnie in the bright, flower-strewn beauty shop.

Many residents took the opportunity to celebrate communion in the chapel with Pastor Mike Eurit that afternoon. We put book club on hold until everyone was present, then began reading "The Young Pioneers," by Rose Wilder Lane, the daughter of Laura and Almanzo.

In celebration of National Hospital Week we were treated to a hot dog and brat cookout Wednesday noon in the courtyard. We also celebrated the lovely weather.

In the afternoon, the nice weather enticed us to take some outings. The first group traveled to Hillsboro and over the reservoir dam for sightseeing. The second busload did a visual inspection of Marion County Lake.

A chapel full of residents spent an hour Thursday morning with Shirley Bowers singing hymns and listening as she played some special songs.

It had been awhile since we'd played penny ante, and the time was right. After lunch, 13 of us snuggled around one of our large tables, then we couldn't find a stopping point. We learned all of us have owned cats and dogs, but only one had no sister and no one had ever worn a strapless bra.

We have enjoyed the vase of flowers sent to our home by PLANTations. We're also amazed at the bouquet of large, beautiful iris we've been given to enjoy and also have a big vase of carnations. They all are lovely.
