Alice Van Buren shared one of her recipes with us this week — lemon dream cookies. This quick and easy recipe calls for a lemon cake mix, an egg, and a couple cups of whipped topping. We dusted them with powdered sugar before baking and they tasted as good as they smelled.

Then just before lunch Friday, Rose Mary Garrard with the St. Luke Hospital Auxiliary brought in a large tray of cupcakes of two different flavors and frosting plus some sugar-free cookies and beautiful fall napkins. It's nice to have Thanksgiving extended by a day or so.

Friday afternoon following bingo with Pat Smith, we enjoyed a mini musical program by the grandchildren of Phyllis Enos. Jacob was on the cello, Ryan on the tuba, and sisters Elizabeth and Abigail singing. The children were accompanied by their mother, Kristi Wright. They are from Emporia. We always enjoy special music and when children are involved it's somehow even more enjoyable.

Our Saturday morning entertainer, Gene Vinduska, is the proud owner of a new instrument, an Elkavox. It is very similar to an accordion, still has reeds, etc., but the instrument has an organ accompaniment which gives it a softer, fuller sound. The carols he sings as he plays sound especially nice with this new "toy."

As we were nearing the end of "Little House on the Prairie" Tuesday morning, it was great timing as we reached chapter 19, "Mr. Edwards Meets Santa Claus." We thoroughly enjoyed the delightful tale neighbor Edwards manufactured to ensure a very happy Christmas for the little Ingalls girls.

Bonnie Plummer of Burns has filed the facility hair care slot and we're grateful to have her here Friday afternoons. Her customers looked so attractive as they exited her tiny shop.

Another welcome and frequent visitor Tuesday was Shirley Bowers who brought in several of her Christmas wall-hangings and even hung them (decked the halls).

Since the Christmas season has begun, our craft project this month included making decorations using plastic lids, red and green felt, foil letters spelling "joy," and colorful ribbons with which to hang them. Tuesday was a full and fulfilling day.

The weather Thursday put a damper on our plans. Lunch Bunch residents lunched at home and Alex Stuchlik stayed at home also. We gave Alex a rain/snow check and made some paper snowflakes and did some decorating instead.
