The morning began Friday with a visit from the fourth graders of Marion Elementary School, instructor Anita Brookens, and pianist Wanda Williams. Seasonal songs were on the program and the children wished us all a merry Christmas as they filed out.

Later that morning the living center bakers put their talents together as we made coconut macaroons, the baked variety, and Miss Fran's no-bake cookies. Of course we always sample the finished product with a cup of coffee.

Joyce Ford and Lydia Batt provided leadership for our Sunday afternoon church service this week.

Following the impromptu service, we headed to our large dining room where three cakes, ice cream, and coffee were served to residents and staff in honor of Helen Bailey's 105th birthday. Rex and Vernolis Siebert also joined us to celebrate this milestone.

In the evening, Helen's family brought refreshments and spent time with her. Dalene Tharp, Blair and Nancy Tharp, David and Carla Tharp, and Tyler, Becky, and Abi Bernhardt were the finishing touches to a special day.

Happy Hustlers 4-H Club provided holiday cheer Sunday evening with a box of fruit and Christmas carols.

Ellen Darrow was here again Monday afternoon and played a wonderful selection of Christmas music in her distinctive way.

We were astonished and a little embarrassed Tuesday morning when w tried to make a list of holiday songs when we played Categories. We knew were failing badly and Ellen had just played a book full the day before!

Many attended prayer group with Dick Pracht Wednesday morning. Sometime before lunch, Khrista and a couple of residents baked cherry chip cakes frosted with vanilla icing, which were served with cherry nut ice cream at the residents' party that afternoon. Irma Benda was our helper as we celebrated the December birthdays of Fred Podszus, Jim Johnston, Lillian Stenzel, and Helen Bailey.

Lois Winter was here for hymn singing Thursday morning. The Lunch Bunch went out to eat at noon, even though it was a little chilly. Alex Stuchlik took us up on our rain check and entertained us later that afternoon. Charlene Svitak brought the keyboard to make Alex sound really good.

All of us at the living center are grateful to the Marion Ministerial Alliance for their decision to continue to provide Sunday afternoon Christian fellowship. Many of our residents are no longer able to go outside the facility for various reasons, and a Sunday service makes a significant difference in their spiritual lives.
