It may sound absurd, but we had a blizzard, well, many snow showers Thursday afternoon in the living center when Kay Navrat brought in her large collection of snow globes. Someone estimated perhaps there were 50 or more and we enjoyed the seasonal "show and tell."

Father Hein Nguyen of Holy Family Parish was here Friday morning for Mass and sacraments for the sick. Pat Smith accompanied the priest. Additional guests were Elsie Bezdek, Jeannie Vinduska, and Marie Navrat.

The bakers made ginger cookies that morning. Of course, we ate some and saved the rest. It keeps us hustling.

Pat Smith was back at 2:30 to call bingo and brought an old friend, Marie Kusnefsky with her. Come again, Marie. It was good to see you.

Shirley Bowers was a Christmas blessing Sunday afternoon when she graciously filled in for the weekly church service. She played a selection of carols and also read the Christmas story from the Bible.

We prettied-up Monday morning, anticipating the arrival of the Marion Kiwanis carolers around the lunch hour.

Our book club enthusiasts met Tuesday morning and we moved with the Ingalls family out of Indian territory through Kansas, Missouri, Iowa, and into Minnesota to the banks of Plum Creek. The series brings special thoughts to Aline Bernhardt whose daughter's name is Caroline and her granddaughter is Laura.

We made straw starburst ornaments with Magdalen Dvorak in the afternoon and decorated a large hibiscus plant in our dining room/kitchen. Of course, we again enjoyed her kolaches with some coffee.

As the year comes to an end, so quickly it seems, we need to thank everyone who makes this home a very nce place to live and work. We have many wonderful volunteers who give of time and talent year round, caring people who share food, flowers, books, magazines, decorations, etc.; folks who come to visit and become friends; ministers and their parishioners who make scheduled visits and also unscheduled visits of comfort.

We're appreciative of the memorial gifts given to our facility by families and friends. And then there is the cooperation of the various departments who share our building and add to our pleasure and comfort.

We thank you sincerely, and wish you all a new year of peace and love.
