St. Luke Living Center: Balloon ball is fun, doesn t hurt

The weather still is not very cold. Some residents go outside a few minutes for a breath of fresh air.

An hour of balloon ball was played Monday morning. It is a great exercise for the arms and legs and it doesn't hurt if it hits you. Ellen Darrow came that afternoon and played old-time songs on the piano. We "old-timers" really loved them. Afterward juices and a variety of snacks and cookies were served by Khrista Branson. Her dog was tired out following her around. He laid down in the middle of the floor.

Pretty up day was Tuesday morning. We all got our nails filed and new polish. The hospital auxiliary hosted a coffee hour in the afternoon for the residents. It was a lot of fun. The coffee, tea, and a variety of cookies and crackers really spoiled our supper. A group of church women came at 7 p.m. and we played bingo for an hour. I think we got all their money.

Prayer group was led Wednesday morning by Richard Pracht. He gave the story of Abraham. Current events was held in the afternoon with Sue Gutsch reading the Marion County Record.

Hymn singing was held Thursday morning. A popcorn party was held in the afternoon. Everyone comes and gets a sack of popcorn.

The usual cookie baking was held Friday morning. Bingo was played in the afternoon.

Gene Vinduska played polka music Saturday on the accordion.

As the church mouse says, "until next week."

Editor's note: It is good to have Gladys reporting news from the living center after a long sabbatical.
