The Rev. Larry King of Good News Christian Fellowship gave such a wonderful message Sunday.

Resident council met Monday morning. Many ideas were discussed and opinions given. Iva Unruh arrived in the afternoon to share some stories.

Pretty up time was Tuesday morning. We all had our nails trimmed and polished. A popcorn party was held in the afternoon. All residents and staff of the center and hospital came for a bag.

Dick Pracht led prayer group Wednesday morning. The afternoon was current events.

Thursday morning was an hour of hymn singing. Do you pay attention to the message and sermon of each song? At noon Khrista Branson took seven residents out for lunch. Later more went for a ride over the countryside.

Regular baking day was Friday morning. Chocolate brownies were made. The afternoon was spent playing bingo with Magdalen Dvorak of Pilsen. She brought apricot kolaches. Everyone sure enjoyed them. Group exercise followed.

Saturday morning we enjoyed listening to Gene Vinduska playing and singing lively polka and waltz music for an hour. The afternoon was spent watching video movies. It is so nice to have a good movie without the crazy commercials.

Church service was brought by a group from the Presbyterian church.

Dominoes were played Monday morning. In the afternoon Ellen Darrow played the piano, then we spent time talking about what we used to do during the summer months. Most everyone had spent it weeding their gardens and flower beds.

Tuesday morning was pretty up time. Everyone got their nails done. That afternoon we made crafts with Magdalen Dvorak of Pilsen and Khrista Branson. Everyone created a colored glass-bead bracelet strung on elastic.

Prayer group was led Wednesday morning by Dick Pracht. After dinner we had a special 50th birthday party for Debbie Craig. Cake and coffee and tea were served. Later the Marion County Record was ready by Khrista to a large group.

I was told we have one resident here who came to Kansas on the orphan train. I know several who had wonderful homes in Peabody.

It thundered and rained all night Thursday and still was raining Friday morning. I heard this is the wettest August on record.

We had an hour of hymn singing with David and Shirley Bowers. Madonna Schafers sang several solos besides leading the singing. Khrista took five residents out for lunch. She then took others out for rides. Some went to the county lake. It was full and overflowing. Some roads were covered. We sure have had a rainy August.

Regular cookie baking time was Friday morning. We then drank coffee and enjoyed the cookies. The afternoon was spent playing bingo with Lois Winter. Group exercise was held later.

Coffee hour and a time of rest consumed Saturday morning. In the afternoon video movies were shown. We enjoy good movies without all the commercials.

Have a good week!
