Stolen vehicle is abandoned in alley

Hillsboro Police Department continues an investigation of a stolen and then abandoned vehicle that occurred May 1. A reckless driver was reported to authorities which resulted in the stolen vehicle, a 1981 Pontiac Bonneville, being abandoned in an alley in the 300 block of North Washington Street. A suspect has been identified. The vehicle belonged to Kevin Neufeld, 410 W. Grand Street, Hillsboro.

April 27: A complaint of a dog in the 300 block of North Main Street, Hillsboro, was filed. Bicycles were registered. A K-9 unit searched Hillsboro High School. Emergency Medical Services volunteers received assistance on a run in the 200 block of South Madison Street. A property dispute in the 300 block of North Madison Street was determined to be a civil matter.

Friday: Assistance was provided with a landlord/tenant dispute. Kansas Highway Patrol received assistance with an out-of-control juvenile on K-15. A dog complaint was made in the 500 block of West Grand Street. A sheriff's deputy received assistance with a vehicle search. A suspicious vehicle was checked in Hillsboro Industrial Park.

Saturday: John Dalke of The Real Estate Center at 116 N. Main Street reported a speaker was stolen from the building; the speaker was valued at $50. An officer provided assistance at Memorial Field when a subject needed medical services.

Sunday: A motorist received assistance. Suspicious people were checked behind city hall at 118 E. Grand Street. A motorist received assistance at Jade and 180th roads.

Monday: Jeffrey Soyez of 219 N. Washington Street reported damage to a lawn chair at his residence; the damage was estimated at $40. A citizen reported a subject was throwing rocks in the 100 block of South Main Street; a window was found broken at 122 W. Grand Street; the loss was estimated at $250, a suspect has been identified, and the case remains under investigation. A harassment complaint in the 200 block of South Jefferson Street was filed. Dog complaints were filed in Hillsboro Heights and the 100 block of North Madison Street.

Tuesday: The manager at Country Haven Inn, 804 Western Heights, received assistance in removing unwanted guests. SRS received assistance with an investigation. A report was made of a reckless driver near a school. A dog complaint was made in the 200 block of North Jefferson Street.

Wednesday: Suspicious activity was reported in the 500 block of West Grand Street. A suspicious vehicle west of Hillsboro was checked. A harassment complaint was made in the 100 block of East D Street.

Thursday: A suspicious person was checked in Hillsboro Heights and suspicious activity was checked in an alley in the 100 block of North Main Street.

Friday: Juveniles were reported smoking in an alley near HHS. A subject was fingerprinted for employment purposes. An officer spoke with a juvenile regarding the use of a pellet gun.

Saturday: A 911 disconnect in the 400 block of North Ash Street was checked. A dog complaint was filed in the 300 block of West Third Street.
