A community fun night will be held Sunday evening at the senior center. Bring snacks to share, and enjoy an evening of games and visiting.

Sunflower Senior Citizens met Tuesday at the senior center. A potluck dinner was followed by a business meeting and card bingo. The group made plans for the county board meeting to be held March 16 at Tampa. The hostesses, Margaret Jirak and Helen Costello, decorated the room with a Valentine theme. Others present were Adeline Bernhardt, Tom and Dee Duggan, Jane Vajnar, Jim and Mary Clemmer, Tillie Hein, Martha Melcher, Bonnie Crandall, Edna Mueller, Leona Kleiber, and Magdalen Dvorak.

Tillie Hein and Kris Srajer, Grant and Cole attended a birthday dinner and bingo at the Catholic church in Elmo Sunday. A table was decorated for each month, and guests were seated according to their birthdays.

The Holy Redeemer Altar Society met Sunday evening at the senior center. The group enjoyed a spaghetti supper furnished by the hostesses, Kris Srajer, Jeanne Rziha, and Monica Svoboda. Kristine Jirak, Julie Rziha, and Seth Jirak talked about their recent trip to Washington, D.C., for a pro-life rally. Others present included Dee Duggan, Mary Ann Frantz, Kathy Kroupa, Kathy Oborny, Kim Oborny, Myrna Hamm, Francie Mueller, Mary Jirak, and Vickie Jirak.

Tom Duggan attended the 50th anniversary dinner of the Goessel Lions Club Sunday evening.

Anna Mae Stika and Lori Moldenhauer attended a baby shower Sunday afternoon for Alyssa Sly at the Methodist church in Hope. Lisa Hanschu was hostess for the occasion, and Anna Weber assisted.

Jesse and Ashton Smith of Pilsen, Reuben and Lucille Kerbs, and Russ and Julie Kerbs and Rustyn went to Salina Sunday afternoon for a 50th birthday party for Marchelle Kerbs at her home. Tim, April, and Molly Kerbs were hosts. A buffet luncheon was served. Many other relatives and friends attended.

Nikki Stenzel won a first-place medal in oral interpretation of poetry at the forensics meet Saturday at Berean Academy in Elbing.

Many from Tampa attended the golden wedding reception and dance for Ralph and Margaret Dillon in Herington Saturday evening.

Kathy and Carl Hubbard of Wellington were Friday afternoon visitors and Sunday overnight guests of Adeline Bernhardt.

Ryan Spohn, Adam and Lauren were Friday overnight guests of Gary and Carole Spohn and also visited Georgia Spohn.

Reuben and Lucille Kerbs went to Abilene Saturday, and Connie Thompson, Allison and Taylor took them out to eat in a belated celebration of Lucille's birthday.

Leona Kleiber spent Feb. 9-15 with Dean and Becky Routh, Melody, Allison, and Danielle in Augusta. On Saturday all attended Butler County 4-H Day in El Dorado, in which Leona's granddaughters participated. Melody received top blues on a senior demonstration and fiddle solo and a first alternate top blue on her vocal solo. Allison earned top blues in the senior division with a reading and a mountain dulcimer solo. Danielle participated at the intermediate level and earned first alternate top blue on a vocal solo, second alternate on a piano solo, and blue on a mandolin solo. Allison and Danielle performed in the large vocal ensemble, which received a top blue. The three sisters were awarded a top blue on their small instrumental ensemble. All the sisters were in the one-act play, which received the first alternate top blue.

Reuben Kerbs took Lucille Kerbs out for supper in Lost Springs Thursday evening in celebration of her birthday. The celebration continued Friday morning, when Russell Kerbs and Reuben and Lucille enjoyed breakfast out in Durham. Lucille also received many cards and phone calls from family and friends.

Lynn and Peggy Kleiber of Salina, Dennis and Terry Klenda, Andrea Kleiber, and Leona Kleiber were guests of Dale Klenda for a Super Bowl party Feb. 4.

Adeline Bernhardt, Andrea Kleiber, Dale Klenda, and Leona Kleiber attended a Boy Scout spaghetti supper at the Methodist church in Salina Feb. 3. Leona's grandson, Nicholas Kleiber, is a member of the sponsoring Scout troop.
