If you've been wondering what happened to the Tampa news for the past several weeks, your correspondent has been laid up, first at the hospital and then at home. She hopes to be back to normal soon.

Steve Spohn and Sheri Kersh of Hope, Ryan Spohn and Kay Wiggins of Manhattan, Gary and Carole Spohn, and Georgia Spohn met Tuesday evening in Council Grove for supper out in celebration of Carole's birthday.

Jim and Kris Srajer, Grant and Cole met Daniel Effingham in Manhattan Tuesday evening to attend the Kansas State basketball game.

Tracy Brunner of Hope was seen by some Tampa residents on the RFD television channel Tuesday evening talking about beef as president of the livestock association.

Georgia Spohn met Lenora Graham and Betty Ireland of Florence in Hillsboro Monday morning. They attended Learning in Retirement at Tabor College and enjoyed dinner out. The Tabor program was a mother-daughter piano duo consisting of Verna Davidson of Delphos and Tanya Davidson Wollenberg of rural Newton. Other Tampa people attending were Adeline Bernhardt, Leona Kleiber, and Jane Vajnar.

Alex Sutton, great-grandson of Jim and Mary Clemmer, competed in the 4A state scholars' bowl, and his team took third. He is the first freshman from his school ever to compete on the varsity team.

A good crowd attended the Lions Club pancake feed Sunday evening at the senior center followed by music and games. The Shady Ladies Red Hat Society entertained with several songs and invited the crowd to join them. Performers were Ramona Goracke, Anita Hummel, and Betty Schlesener of Hope, Rhea Kolling, Karolyn Schlesener, Helen Sorenson, Rose Mary Deines, and Alice Bell of Herington, Adeline Bernhardt, Leona Kleiber, and Dee Duggan.

Tom and Bev Reid of Marion, Brad Backhus, and Paul and Edna Backhus were Sunday lunch guests of Michael and Jennifer Jay of Hillsboro. In the afternoon the ladies attended a baby shower for Jennifer at the senior center in Goessel.

After-church visitors Sunday of Reuben and Lucille Kerbs were Russ and Julie Kerbs and Rustyn and Jesse and Ashton Smith and Sydney.

Deb and Kaylee Hall of Herington and Tom and Dee Duggan went to Junction City Saturday to watch Kaylee play basketball. Donald and Carolyn Srajer of Omaha, Neb., spent Friday and Saturday with his mother, Tillie Hein. They attended the rosary and funeral service for Ron Scott of Emporia. Ron was married to Tillie's daughter, Dolores.

Terry and Cindy Vinduska and Ruby Vinduska of Marion and Melissa Stuchlik of Pilsen enjoyed dinner out Feb. 24 in Marion in celebration of Terry's birthday. Leona Kleiber was able to join them at the Vinduska home in the afternoon for birthday cake and ice cream.

Lucille Kerbs celebrated her birthday Feb. 15. Russ Kerbs took Reuben and Lucille out for breakfast, and Ashton Smith and Sydney joined them. Afternoon visitors of Reuben and Lucille were April Kerbs and Mark Reidy. Reuben and Lucille enjoyed supper out in McPherson. She also received flowers and many cards, phone calls, and messages.

Leona Kleiber and Adeline Bernhardt attended the funeral of Adeline's nephew, Jack Grosse, Feb. 22 at Peabody. Barney Bernhardt of Wichita and Carl Hubbard of Wellington joined them there.

Guests of Frank and Anna Mae Stika Feb. 10 were Ronnie and Lisa Hanschu, James and Anna and Tom and Lori Moldenhauer and Nikki. The occasion was and early celebration of Valentine's Day and Ronnie's birthday.

Reuben and Lucille Kerbs attended the visitation for Georgia Kerbs Feb. 3 at the Parkview Funeral Home in Wichita. Reuben Kerbs of Wichita and Glenn Kerbs of Dodge City also were there. Connie Thompson of Abilene took Reuben and Lucille to the funeral Feb. 4 at Trinity Lutheran Church. Tim and Marchelle Kerbs of Salina were also present. A luncheon in the church basement followed the funeral.

Adeline Bernhardt and Leona Kleiber enjoyed dinner out Feb. 20 in Salina.
