Julie Rziha, Kristine Jirak, Bermet Zhumakadyr kyzy, Sheila Makovec, Amy and Alex Hajek, Nathan Barney, Jacob Jirak, and Charles Stuchlik attended a Catholic Youth Organization convention Saturday and Sunday at Wichita. The Holy Family Parish took first place with its scrapbook and also received a parish recognition award. Amanda Bina and Isaac Horinek earned regional outstanding Catholic awards, and Kristine Jirak was awarded the Light of Christ award.

Nikki Stenzel placed second Tuesday at a forensics meet at Wichita.

Adeline Bernhardt spent from Monday to Wednesday with Carl and Kathy Hubbard in Wellington and paid daily visits to Linda Bernhardt at Via Christi St. Joseph hospital, where she is being treated for pneumonia.

Jane Vajnar attended a poetry reading Tuesday evening at Hillsboro.

Anna Mae Stika and Lori Moldenhauer and Nikki went to Wichita Saturday for dinner and shopping.

Teams of FFA members from Centre High School took first place in both Ag Business Management and Ag Sales at a competition Monday at Barton County Community College in Great Bend. The sales team consisted of Julie Rziha, Amy Hajek, Nellie Hill, and Kristine Jirak. Individual rankings were Hill, first; Jirak, second; Rziha, fifth; and Hajek, sixth. Nick Cole and Kristine Jirak were on the business management team; their individual rankings were Jirak, fourth, and Cole, sixth. On Friday, Julie Rziha and Andy Carlson placed first and second in business management competition at Fort Scott Aggy Days. Congratulations to all.

The Knights of Columbus and their wives enjoyed supper out Sunday evening in Abilene.

Leona Kleiber attended a baby shower for her granddaughter, Andrea Klenda, Sunday afternoon at the church basement at Pilsen. After the shower, Peggy Kleiber, Amanda Baxa, Terry Klenda, Andrea, and Leona joined Lynn Kleiber and Nicholas and Dale Klenda at the Klenda home.

A number of Tampa people attended a potluck dinner Sunday at the Durham Baptist Church. The event was a belated celebration of Pastor Curtis Wiens's birthday.

A large crowd attended the Tampa Community Association's pork chop dinner Friday evening at the senior center.

Frank and Anna Mae Stika were Tuesday evening visitors of Tom and Lori Moldenhauer and Nikki in celebration of Tom and Lori's wedding anniversary.

Georgia Spohn visited Marguerite Goertz in Hillsboro Wednesday morning.

Carl and Clint Hubbard of Wellington were Wednesday dinner guests of Adeline Bernhardt.

Tom and Dee Duggan attended the senior citizens meeting Wednesday at Durham. As Marion County's silver-haired legislator, Tom is visiting various senior citizen groups to get suggestions for issues to be raised in the Silver-Haired Legislature.

Prairie Pals met Tuesday evening in the Lutheran church basement with Laveta Meyer and Jane Vajnar as hostesses. Reece Berens and Tyler Bentz presented the talks they had prepared for 4-H. Reece also told the group about the Adopt a Composer program in which his piano class was involved and played the selection he had played for the concert. As a celebration of spring, members took a trivia quiz about flowers. Mary Clemmer excelled above everyone with nine right answers out of 12. Others present were Cheri Bentz, Virginia Bentz, Michele Berens, Janet Bielefeld, Iona Dietrich, Lori Meyer, and Lawana Kohman.

Twelve people came to the monthly game time at the senior center Tuesday afternoon bringing snacks and games. The activities which attracted the group this month were card bingo and assembly of a jigsaw puzzle. Those participating were Jim and Mary Clemmer, Walt and Iona Dietrich, Adeline Bernhardt, Magdalen Dvorak, Tillie Hein, Margaret Jirak, Tillie Hein, Edna Mueller, Linda Ihde, and Jane Vajnar. Sunflower Senior Citizens sponsors game time at 1:30 p.m. the fourth Tuesday of each month. Everyone is invited to attend.

Georgia Spohn met Lenora Graham of Florence in Hillsboro Monday morning. They attended the Learning in Retirement program at Tabor College on teaching English in China, then enjoyed dinner out. Other Tampa people attending the program included Jim and Mary Clemmer and Jane Vajnar.

Bermet Zhumakadyr kyzy spent her spring break in New York City, where she visited Joyce Pisarello. As a Peace Corps volunteer, Pisarello had taught Bermet English in Kyrgyzstan.

Easter dinner guests of Terry and Cindy Vinduska of Marion were Dean and Becky Routh, Melody, Allison, and Danielle of Augusta, Ron and Tammi Vinduska and Kristi of Topeka, Daniel and Melissa Stuchlik, Tanner and Allie, Ruby Vinduska, Adeline Bernhardt, and Leona Kleiber. An Easter egg hunt was enjoyed in the afternoon.

Easter guests of Ronnie and Lisa Hanschu, James and Anna were Frank and Anna Mae Stika, Lori Moldenhauer and Nikki, and Taylor Sly and her niece Kelsi.

Guests of Jerry and Jeanne Rziha, Julie and Bermet over the Easter holiday were Wayne and Shannon Rziha, Cecilia, Anthony, and Daniel of Tulsa, Okla., John and Jeanne Rziha, Michael, Christopher, Joseph, Timothy, Thomas, and Charles, and David and Caterina Rziha and Isobel of Atchison, Emilio and Janie Aita and Antonio of Chippewa Falls, Wis., and Susie and Cecilia Rziha of Wichita.

Guests of Reuben and Lucille Kerbs after the Easter church service were Russ and Julie Kerbs and Rustyn and Jesse and Ashton Smith and Sydney.

Easter dinner guests of Paul and Edna Backhus were Bev and Tom Reid of Marion, Jenny and Mike Jay and Kelsie Penner of Hillsboro, Don and Ophelia Jacobson and Greg Jacobson of Hope, Jody and Ron Heath, Danielle and Tyler of Salina, Brad Backhus, Jason Backhus, Phyllis Mueller, and Rod Mueller.

Greg Sklenar of Wichita was a weekend guest of his mother, Lois Sklenar. Valerie Hampton joined them on Easter.

Reuben and Lucille Kerbs enjoyed supper out in McPherson Sunday. They received several Easter greetings by phone.

About 50 children attended the Easter egg hunt Saturday afternoon at the baseball field. Prize baskets for the various age groups went to Nathaniel Booker and Kylee Poague, age 8 through fifth grade; Elena Reta and Elias Jirak, 5 to 7 years old; Chase Poague and Callie Bernhardt, 3 to 4 years old; and Jessika Florey and Charles Rziha, 0 to 2 years old. The annual event is organized and in large part funded by Melissa Stuchlik and Iona Dietrich. While they receive some financial assistance from the city and from Prairie Pals, other donations are very much appreciated.

Saturday dinner guests of Adeline Bernhardt were Barney Bernhardt and Megan of Wichita.

Reuben and Lucille Kerbs attended a party Saturday for their great-granddaughter, Charlotte Kerbs, in celebration of her first birthday. Hosts for the occasion were Charlotte's parents, Reuben and Cristy Kerbs. Among many relatives and friends attending were Glenn and Eloise Kerbs, Tim and Marchelle Kerbs, April and Molly, Julie Kerbs and Rustyn, Ashton Smith and Sydney, and Clayton and Leah Kerbs. The group enjoyed birthday cake and ice cream and watched Charlotte open her many cards and gifts.

Friday supper guests of Gary and Carole Spohn were Ryan Spohn, Adam and Lauren, Steve Spohn, Sheri Kersh, and Georgia Spohn.

Erma Benda visited Frank and Anna Mae Stika Friday.

Reuben and Lucille Kerbs went to Abilene Friday for dinner out with Doug and Connie Thompson, Allison and Taylor.

Tom and Dee Duggan accompanied the Ramona senior citizen group to Hutchinson March 19 for a tour of the salt museum.

April Kerbs of Salina was a late Thursday afternoon visitor of her grandparents, Reuben and Lucille Kerbs.

Lynn Kleiber and Nicholas of Salina visited his mother, Leona Kleiber, March 15. While Nicholas visited friends in Lincolnville, Leona and Lynn met Andrea Klenda in Lost Springs for dinner out.

Rustyn Kerbs was a Thursday breakfast guest of his grandparents, Reuben and Lucille Kerbs.

George Brunner of Fenton, Mo., visited Frank and Anna Mae Stika March 13.
