Jerry and Jeanne Rziha, Cecilia and Julie visited David Rziha Sunday evening at Council Grove and enjoyed the Independence Day festivities and fireworks.

Guests for a Fourth of July barbecue at the home of Frank and Anna Mae Stika were Tom and Lori Moldenhauer and Ronnie and Lisa Hanschu, James and Anna.

Greg and Michele Berens, Reece and Addie attended an Independence Day barbecue Sunday evening at the home of Gene and Debbie Bielefeld in Abilene. Other guests included Brian and Sherri Bielefeld of Florida, Brett Bielefeld of Kansas City, Ryan Bielefeld of Denver, Colo., Kelly and Angie Bielefeld and Magdeline of Clearwater, Ross Bielefeld of Lawrence, Bob and La Donna Klein and Geraldine Frick of Durham, Michael Klein and Becky Jantz of Hillsboro, Raymond and Janet Bielefeld of Hope, Oral and Tracine Saulters and Evelyn Bielefeld of Abilene.

Gary and Carole Spohn spent Sunday in Manhattan baby-sitting with their granddaughter, Lauren Spohn, while Ryan and Claudette Spohn and Adam went to the races in Kansas City. After returning home, they and Georgia Spohn went to Ramona for the fireworks.

Ron and Jody Heath, Danielle and Tyler of Salina were weekend guests of Phyllis and Rod Mueller. Additional Sunday evening guests for a barbecue were Don and Ophelia Jacobson of Hope, Bev and Tom Reid of Marion County Lake, Mike and Jennifer Jay of Hillsboro, Paul and Edna Backhus, Brad and Jason Backhus, and Lance Diepenbrock. Everyone enjoyed home-made ice cream and fireworks.

Leona Kleiber and Adeline Bernhardt were among the Tampa people attending the Sunday evening Independence Day celebration at Ramona. Events included a tractor show, games for the children, music by "Bob and the Boys," crafts, food, parade, and fireworks. Several Tampa people were in the parade. Rustyn Kerbs, Nicholas Kleiber, Jacob Jirak, and Cole Svoboda received a prize for their band, and Tyler Bentz took first prize in the children's division.

Wayne and Marita Schwartzman of Wichita were weekend guests of his mother, Helen Schwartzman.

Leona Kleiber and Adeline Bernhardt visited Milda Krauter Sunday afternoon at Marion Manor in Marion.

Frank and Anna Mae Stika, Lori and Tom Moldenhauer, and James and Anna Weber attended a reception Saturday evening for Rosalie and Jim Rudolph at the community center in Pilsen in celebration of their 40th wedding anniversary. Everyone enjoyed karaoke following the reception. All of Frank's siblings were present.

Jane Vajnar paid a brief visit Sunday afternoon to Tom and Dee Duggan.

Greg Sklenar of Wichita and Valerie Hampton of Hillsboro visited Saturday with their mother, Lois Sklenar.

Leona Kleiber and Adeline Bernhardt enjoyed dinner out Thursday in Salina.

Kaylee Hall of Herington spent Friday and Saturday with her grandparents, Tom and Dee Duggan.

Reuben and Lucille Kerbs attended the baseball tournament for 10- and 11-year-olds at Marion this past week. The Centre team, on which their grandson, Rustyn Kerbs, plays, took third place.

Carolyn Duggan of Hutchinson visited Thursday afternoon with Tom and Dee Duggan.

Bertha Schneider died Saturday at the rest home in Herington. She was Anna Mae Stika's aunt. The family has the sympathy of the Tampa community.

Adeline Bernhardt visited Milda Krauter Wednesday afternoon at Marion Manor in Marion.

Tom and Dee Duggan met Don and Betty Frick of Topeka at the cafe Thursday for dinner.

Terry and Cindy Vinduska, Lynn and Peggy Kleiber, Amanda, Andrea, and Nicholas, Dean and Becky Routh, Allison, Melody, and Danielle of Augusta, Leona Kleiber, Adeline Bernhardt, Monty and Sarah Stuchlik and Frances Stuchlik of Lost Springs, Mike and Candee Thode of Wichita, Ruby Vinduska of Pilsen, and Ron and Tammi Vinduska and Kristi of Topeka joined other relatives June 27 at Holy Family Parish in Pilsen for the baptism of Tanner Eugene Stuchlik and a reception in his honor. Tanner is the son of Daniel and Melissa Stuchlik of Wichita. Father Dick Stuchlik officiated. Sponsors were Jill Vinduska of Manhattan and Ross Stuchlik of Lost Springs.

Becky Jantz, bride-elect of Michael Klein, was honored with a bridal shower June 27 at St. John's Lutheran Church. The fellowship hall was decorated in bright sherbet colors. Special guests included the bride-to-be's mother, Judy Jantz; her sister, Amy Richards; the groom-to-be's mother, La Donna Klein; his grandmother, Esther Klein; and his sister, Tracine Saulters. Hostesses were Janet Bielefeld, Michele Berens, Tisha Bielefeld, and Debbie Bielefeld.

Tom and Lori Moldenhauer and Nikki visited Frank and Anna Mae Stika June 27 for birthday cake and ice cream in celebration of Anna Mae's birthday.

Leona Kleiber spent June 18-27 with Dean and Becky Routh, Melody, Allison, and Danielle at Augusta. They all attended several of the girls' ball games. On June 26 they attended a recital of stringed instruments by the students of Dan Fitzgerald at Senseney Music Recital Hall in Wichita. Danielle, Allison, and Melody performed instrumental solos and also played and sang as a trio on violin, banjo, and mandolin.

Frank and Anna Mae Stika, Lori Moldenhauer and Nikki, and Anna Weber went to Junction City June 26 for dinner out and shopping in celebration of Anna Mae's birthday.

Adeline Bernhardt attended the bridal shower June 27 for Becky Jantz Sunday afternoon.

Most farmers in this area have finished harvesting wheat. Reports are that yields were "not too bad."

Julie Rziha spent from Sunday to Thursday with Jim and Diane Herron, Andrew and Peter in Wichita. Diane and the boys brought her home Thursday and stayed through the weekend with Jerry and Jeanne Rziha. The highlight of their visit for Andrew was riding on the combine with his grandfather.

Tony Young of Goessel was a Saturday morning visitor of his aunt, Lois Sklenar.

Around 30 children attended vacation Bible school last week at Saint John's Lutheran Church. The event had a construction theme. The congregation enjoyed a potluck supper Friday evening followed by the VBS program.

Jane Vajnar attended the wedding of Robyn Unruh and Brian Pekarek Saturday evening at the Methodist church in Hillsboro followed by a dinner and dance at the home of the bride's parents, Bob and Priscilla Unruh, near Durham. She especially enjoyed visiting with members of the Unruh family she doesn't see often.

Adeline Bernhardt visited Saturday morning with Lola Teetzen.

Georgia Spohn visited Marguerite Goertz Saturday morning in Hillsboro.

Tom and Dee Duggan joined Deb Hall at Herington Thursday evening to watch Kaylee Hall's t-ball practice. Later Tom and Dee went to the community center to visit with friends in their square dance group.

Carl and Kathy Hubbard of Wellington were Thursday evening visitors of her mother, Adeline Bernhardt.

Adam Hall of Lee's Summit, Mo., called his grandparents, Tom and Dee Duggan, this past Wednesday to report on his 10 days at Boy Scout camp at Oceola, Mo.

Reuben and Lucille Kerbs and Rustyn Kerbs went to Herington Tuesday to watch the Abilene-Herington softball game. Taylor Thompson of Abilene was playing, and Doug and Connie Thompson also were in attendance. After the game, they went out to eat.

Guests for a Father's Day cookout at the home of Steve Spohn of Hope were Ryan and Claudette Spohn, Adam and Lauren of Manhattan, Gary and Carole Spohn, and Georgia Spohn.

Virginia Pierce of Wichita and Adeline Bernhardt were June 21 guests of Bud and Jean Pierce of Marion for dinner at the cafe.

Reuben and Lucille Kerbs and Russ and Julie Kerbs and Rustyn attended the Kerbs family reunion June 20 in Salina.

Deb Hall and Kaylee of Herington and Tom and Dee Duggan attended Kaylee's t-ball game June 19 at Woodbine. They all went to Herington after the game for supper out, then spent the evening at Deb's home, where Tom opened his Father's Day gifts from Deb and Kaylee and Darla Hall and Adam.

Adeline Bernhardt spent June 18-21 with Carl and Kathy Hubbard and Clint of Wellington. Andrea King joined them as supper guests of Chris and Dee Anna Stout and Gabrielle of Wichita. Additional guests for the early Father's Day celebration were Mr. and Mrs. Tom Stout of McPherson.
