A Santa Fe Trail team of people from the Tampa community will participate July 30 in the Relay for Life at the Marion track. The team will be sponsored by Butch's Diner and Tampa Community Association. Anyone wanting to volunteer or more information should call Carole Spohn. Anyone who wants to give a luminary in honor of a cancer survivor or in memory of a loved one or who wants to give a cash donation may see any team member. Donations need to be in by July 26. Your correspondent has even agreed to walk for an hour, in case you would pay good money to see her hobble around the track.

Reuben and Lucille Kerbs met Elmer and Joyce Gooding of Tempe, Ariz., Saturday in Abilene. They were guests of the Goodings for dinner.

Lynn and Peggy Kleiber and Leona Kleiber attended the league swim meet Saturday at Herington. Amanda, Andrea, and Nicholas Kleiber were participants. Results were not available at this writing due to computer problems.

Frank and Anna Mae Stika and Ronnie and Lisa Hanschu attended the funeral Saturday for their aunt, Bertha Schneider, at Ramona.

Cecilia Rziha returned to her Totus Tuus teaching team Friday after spending a week here with her family, Jerry and Jeanne Rziha and Julie.

Wayne and Marita Schwartzman spent the past week here visiting his mother, Helen Schwartzman.

Dee Duggan, Leona Kleiber, and Adeline Bernhardt, along with other members of the Red Hat Ladies, rode on a float Thursday in the Tri-County Fair parade.

Adam Hall of Lee's Summit, Mo., spent the past week here visiting Deb Hall and Kaylee of Herington and Tom and Dee Duggan. All went to the water park Tuesday in McPherson. They attended the Tri-County Fair in Herington where Adam was recruited to drive the lawn tractor pulling the Roadhouse's float. On Friday the Duggans met Darla Hall near Ottawa, and Adam returned home with his mother.

Jim and Diane Herron, Andrew and Peter spent from Wednesday to Friday with Jerry and Jeanne Rziha and Julie. The Herrons were in the process of moving from Wichita to Solomon.

A number of young people from Tampa exhibited at the Tri-County Fair. Although not all results are known, some achievements were outstanding. Andrea Kleiber had the reserve champion pig, and the Barney family nearly cornered the market in livestock showmanship. Aaron and Alisha were grand champion showmen for pigs and lambs in the senior and junior divisions, respectively. Nathan and Jared were reserve champion showmen for lambs in the intermediate and novice divisions. Jared also earned a purple and two blues in cooking and crafts. Nathan brought home a blue in cooking, and Alisha won a blue and a red in crafts.

Jerry and Jeanne Rziha, Cecilia and Julie spent from July 5-7 with Wayne and Shannon Rziha and Cecilia Marie of Tulsa, Okla.

Reuben and Lucille Kerbs went July 5 to Salina. After doing errands, they visited Tim and Marchelle Kerbs and Molly. In the evening they went on to Abilene and watched the Ike's I and Ike's II teams play. Their granddaughter, Allison Phillips, was on the Ike's I team. Doug and Connie Thompson also were present.

The name of Nikki Stenzel was accidentally omitted from those attending the anniversary celebration for Jim and Rosalie Rudolph in last week's news. Apologies, Nikki.

Jane Vajnar is completing her classes at Emporia State University today (Thursday), so next week's news will be collected on a more normal and less hurried schedule. Thank you for your patience.
