Jerry and Jeanne Rziha and Julie went to the airport in Wichita Tuesday to meet Bermet Zhumakadyr Kyzy, an exchange student from Kyrgyzstan who will be living with the Rzihas during the coming school year. She will be a senior at Centre High School.

Jim Clemmer recently received a card from Debbie Schachner, a young woman who is walking across the United States for a library in Kenya. She came through Tampa last year, and Jim bought her breakfast. The card came from West Virginia. Schachner is 600 miles from her final destination in Delaware.

Sunday dinner guests of Lois Sklenar were her children, Greg Sklenar of Wichita and Valerie Hampton of Hillsboro. Greg was a Sunday overnight guest.

Emilio and Janie Aita and Antonio of Chippewa Falls, Wis., are spending this week here visiting Jerry and Jeanne Rziha and Julie, their exchange student Bermet and other relatives. Joining them Wednesday were Diane Herron, Andrew, Peter, and Maria of Topeka and Susie Rziha of Independence. The Herrons were overnight guests. Susie is spending a week here before moving to Wichita.

Carl and Kathy Hubbard of Wellington were Saturday afternoon visitors of her mother, Adeline Bernhardt. All enjoyed supper at the café.

Cathy Rehnert of Concord, N.H., visited Frank and Anna Mae Stika Thursday.

Many Tampa people, as well as relatives and friends from out of town, attended the wedding of Sara Hamm and Tyler Goldsby at Pilsen Friday evening, followed by a dinner and dance the community building in Herington.

Kaylee Hall of Herington was an overnight guest of Tom and Dee Duggan July 30. On July 31 they went to Tyro, where they visited Ernie Bonham and his friend Brenda, then on to Bartlesville, Okla., where they stayed until Thursday with Ernie and Darlene Kite. Kaylee stayed to spend another week with the Kites. En route home Thursday the Duggans stopped at Copan, Okla., and visited Delores Bonham.

Marcel and Irma Benda visited Frank and Anna Mae Stika Thursday evening.

Cecilia Rziha moved to Wichita Wednesday to begin new teacher orientation at Bishop Carroll High School, where she will be teaching when the school year begins.

Jeanne Rziha went to Wichita over the weekend for a sisters' get-together. She met Bonnie Haslouer and Carol Whitehair of Abilene, Louise Bevilacqua of Wichita, Janie Hummel of Colorado Springs, Colo., Susan Denney of Independence, and Ellen Haslouer of Hope. Highlights of the weekend included lunch at the Victorian Tea Room, a tour of the Saint George Orthodox Christian Cathedral, dinner theater at Mosley Street Melodrama, and a view of the Keeper of the Plains statue lit up by fires at night.

Melissa Stuchlik, Tanner and Allie visited her grandmother, Leona Kleiber, Monday morning.

Adeline Bernhardt visited Reuben and Lucille Kerbs Monday morning.

The Kansas Water Well Association held their annual picnic Saturday and Sunday at the Marion Country Club. Among those attending the cream can supper on Saturday evening were Bev and Tom Reid of Marion County Lake, Mike and Jennifer Jay of Hillsboro, and Paul and Edna Backhus. Ron and Jody Heath and Tyler of Salina, Mike Jay, Jason Backhus, and Rod Mueller participated in a golf tournament Sunday. Joining them for the hog roast at noon were Paul and Edna, Bev and Tom, Brad Backhus, Danielle Heath, and Phyllis Mueller. After lunch prizes were awarded to the winners of the golf tournament. Rodney was on the first place team, and Jason, Mike, and Tyler were on the third place team.

Valerie Hampton was a Sunday dinner guest of her mother, Lois Sklenar.

Ryan Spohn and Adam, Gary and Carole Spohn, and Georgia Spohn enjoyed dinner at the café on Sunday.

Adeline Bernhardt attended the Bernhardt family reunion Sunday at the senior center in Marion with a potluck dinner at noon. Later in the afternoon Mildred Bernhardt of Lyons and Adeline visited Lorraine Havlik.

Lucille Kerbs visited Connie Thompson and Taylor in Abilene Saturday, and they enjoyed dinner out.

Kristine Jirak and Julie Rziha attended Totus Tuus camp at Lyons July 23-27.

Adeline Bernhardt and Leona Kleiber met Peggy Kleiber and Nicholas in Salina Thursday and enjoyed lunch together. Later, Nicholas accompanied Adeline and Leona home. He was a Thursday overnight and Friday morning guest of his grandmother. Peggy was an additional Friday afternoon visitor of Leona, and they all joined Dale and Andrea Klenda for supper out in Lost Springs. Nicholas spent some time with his friends and returned to Salina with his mother Saturday afternoon.

Reuben Kerbs of Wichita and Russ Kerbs were Thursday supper guests of Reuben and Lucille Kerbs. Reuben II was en route home from Topeka, where the baseball team he coaches had played.

An FFA officers' retreat was held recently at Council Grove Lake. Centre youth attending were Julie Rziha, Kristine Jirak, Nathan Barney, Shelby Deines, Nellie Hill, Andy Carlson, and Dallas Spooner.

Members of the Tampa Lions Club donated, cooked, and served a meal Tuesday evening to 32 people, members of the Marion County Surface Water Board and their guests. Those helping serve were Jim and Mary Clemmer, Gary and Carole Spohn, and Tom and Dee Duggan. Anna Mae Stika prepared and donated food on behalf of Lions Tom and Lori Moldenhauer, who were unable to be present. Proceeds will go toward the new restrooms at the ball diamond.

Valerie Hampton of Hillsboro was a Sunday dinner guest of her mother, Lois Sklenar.

Reuben and Lucille Kerbs went to Salina Sunday afternoon for a movie and supper out.

Tom and Dee Duggan visited Deb Hall and Kaylee in Herington Sunday, then went on to Lee's Summit, Mo., where they were overnight guests of Darla Hall and Adam. Tom and Adam treated Dee and Darla to dinner out and a movie in celebration of the women's birthday.

Community residents enjoyed an ice cream social in the park Sunday evening sponsored by Prairie Pals.

Kevin Ingalls of Hutchinson and his friend Dana and children of Manhattan were Sunday visitors of Helen Costello.

Residents of the area enjoyed seeing "The Shaggy Dog," with Tim Allen on Main Street Saturday evening. Members of the Lions Club, Gary and Carole Spohn and Tom and Dee Duggan, worked at a concession supplying soft drinks and popcorn. The weather was perfect for the occasion, and a good time was had by all.

Adeline Bernhardt and Leona Kleiber were among those attending the ice cream social in the park Sunday evening.

Tom Duggan treated Joe and Joyce Cox of Abilene, Everett and Rhea Kolling of Herington, and Dee Duggan to supper at the café Saturday evening in celebration of Dee's birthday.

Dale and Andrea Klenda, Adeline Bernhardt, and Leona Kleiber enjoyed supper at the café Saturday evening followed by the movie on Main Street.

Adeline Bernhardt, Jane Vajnar and Tom Duggan attended the Marion County Senior Citizens Board meeting Friday at Goessel.

Kaylee Hall of Herington spent Thursday through Saturday with her grandparents, Tom and Dee Duggan.

Georgia Spohn spent July 17-19 with her sister and husband, Orlin and Norma Wagner, of Wichita.

Members of the Red Hat Society and their guests attended the production of "Bye, Bye, Birdie" July 18 at the Great Plains Theater in Abilene. Those attending included Everett and Rhea Kolling, Joe and Joyce Cox, Verl and Karoly Schlesener, Betty Schlesener, Rose Mary Deines, Phyllis Allen, Barbara Askew, Deloris Hird, Helen Sorenson, Liz Monnington, Adeline Bernhardt, Leona Kleiber, and Tom and Dee Duggan. Chance Berndt, a grandson of the Kollings, was in the cast.
