Tampa Community Association is gearing up for the annual Santa Fe Trail Fest to be held at 3 p.m. Oct. 14. Activities will include a wiener roast, hayrack ride behind a team of Belgian horses driven by Jonas Frantz, musical entertainment by "Trail Song Willie" coupled with stories of the trails by Virginia Bentz, pie sale by the Leos, flea market, cake walk, stick horse rodeo, and other games. Anyone interested in having a flea market table should talk to Carole Spohn at 785-965-2639. Bring your lawn chairs, come and enjoy.

Frank and Anna Mae Stika, Lori Moldenhauer and Nikki, and Ronnie and Lisa Hanschu, James and Anna attended a family reunion of the descendants of Fred and Mary Schneider Sunday in Herington.

Georgia Spohn met Lenora Graham of Florence in Hillsboro Monday morning and they attended the Learning in Retirement program at Tabor College and enjoyed dinner out in Marion.

Tillie Hein's daughter and granddaughter, Dolores Scott of Emporia and Pamela Fillmore of Cottonwood Falls have recently returned from a vacation in Germany and the Czech Republic, where they visited some cousins of the Shramek family.

Kaylee Hall of Herington was a Friday and Saturday overnight guest of her grandparents, Tom and Dee Duggan. Her friend, Kylie Moore joined them Saturday and stayed over Saturday night.

Adeline Bernhardt and Leona Kleiber enjoyed supper at the café Saturday evening.

The Tampa community grieves with the family of Janice Kaufman, who died after a long illness. Many Tampa people attended her funeral Friday morning at the Durham Baptist church.

Helen Benson of Raytown, Mo., visited Adeline Bernhardt Friday afternoon.

Kristine Jirak, Julie Rziha, and Nikki Stenzel were honored Sept. 19 as outstanding scholars by Kansas University at a supper in McPherson. Family members attending the event included Francis and Mary Jirak, Jerry and Jeanne Rziha and Bermet, Greg Stenzel, Lori Moldenhauer, Betty Stenzel, Frank and Anna Mae Stika, and Lisa Hanschu.

The Tampa community mourns the death of Leonard Klenda and extends sympathy to his family. Many attended his funeral Sept. 19 at Pilsen.

Reuben and Lucille Kerbs joined other relatives at the home of Don and Cecile Penney in Topeka for dinner and an afternoon of visiting. Others present were Al and Lila Gooding, Tammi Pierce, Art and Evelyn Schultz, and Virgil and Barbara Gooding. On their way home Reuben and Lucille stopped at White City to watch the Centre junior varsity football game. Their grandson, Rustyn Kerbs, played. Also in his cheering section were Julie Kerbs and Jesse and Ashton Smith.

Lynn Kleiber of Salina and Leona Kleiber were among those attending the funeral for Leonard Klenda Sept. 19.

Anna Weber was honored with a party at her home Sept. 16 in celebration of her 13th birthday with Ronnie and Lisa Hanschu and James as hosts. The event included a wiener roast, games, and the traditional birthday cake and ice cream. Among the large crown attending were Frank and Anna Mae Stika, Lori Moldenhauer and Nikki and a friend of Nikki's.

Gary and Carole Spohn and Georgia Spohn met Ryan Spohn of Manhattan and Steve Spohn and Sheri Kersh of Hope in Abilene Sept. 18, for supper out in celebration of Steve's and Georgia's birthdays.

People from here attending the "Fabulous Fifties" senior fair Sept. 18 at Salina included Jane Vajnar, Adeline Bernhardt, Leona Kleiber, Tom Duggan, Iona Dietrich, Jim Srajer, and Tillie Hein and her houseguests, Donald and Carolyn Srajer. Tillie was honored as Marion County's "Rockin' and Rollin' Leader."

Frank and Anna Mae Stika, Lori Moldenhauer and Nikki and a friend, Ronnie and Lisa Hanschu, James and Anna went to the state fair in Hutchinson Sept. 16.

Carl and Kathy Hubbard of Wellington were Sept. 14-15 guests of her mother, Adeline Bernhardt. Leona Kleiber joined them for lunch Saturday in Hillsboro.

Donald and Carolyn Srajer of Omaha, Neb., spent Sept. 17-19 here visiting Tillie Hein and Jim and Kris Srajer, Grant and Cole and attending the senior fair.

Reuben and Lucille Kerbs attended the state fair in Hutchinson Sept. 14, in celebration of their 55th wedding anniversary. En route home they stopped in McPherson for supper out. They also received many congratulatory cards and telephone calls.

Lorraine Havlik of Marion, Leona Kleiber, and Adeline Bernhardt enjoyed dinner Sept. 16 at the café and Lorraine spent the afternoon with Adeline.

Anna Mae Stika and Lori Moldenhauer went Sept. 15 to the craft fairs in Marion and Hillsboro, and stopped at the home of Kama Craft to chat with Nikki Stenzel.
