Tampa is looking a lot like Christmas. The city's lighted wreaths adorn street light poles. Many homes also have brilliant displays. A few of the standouts are Reuben and Lucille Kerbs, Lois Sklenar, Frank and Anna Mae Stika, Adeline Bernhardt, Tom and Lori Moldenhauer, and Pastor Clark and Kathy Davis. Candles glow in the windows at the homes of Paul and Edna Backhus and Greg and Michele Berens. Manger scenes in Leona Kleiber's yard and in front of the Lutheran church express the inspirational meaning of the season. You are invited to drive around town in the evening and enjoy. Tampa's decorations rival those in larger towns.

Tillie Hein was among the Tampa people attending the funeral of Stanley Konarik Tuesday in Pilsen. Konarik was the brother of Martha Melcher, who has the sympathy of all her Tampa neighbors.

Betty Mueller and Lois Sklenar enjoyed dinner out Tuesday in Salina.

Tom and Dee Duggan were Monday overnight guests of Don and Betty Frick of Topeka.

A large crowd attended the community Christmas festival Sunday evening at the senior center. Pete Schultz of Herington came to lead carol singing. Santa and one of his elves arrived on the fire truck. The elf read stories to the children, and Santa passed out treats provided by the Lions Club. The rest of the evening was occupied with bingo, snacks, and visiting.

Guests of Paul and Edna Backhus for a pre-Christmas family dinner were Vic Backhus of Herington, Mel Boselman of Salina, Paul and Emma Paulson and Gerald and Alice Yoackman of Wichita, Bill and Ruth Taylor of Shawnee, Mildred Bernhardt and Mike Bernhardt of Lyons, Keith and Lydia Evans of Haysville, Brad Backhus, and Jason Backhus.

Reuben and Lucille Kerbs joined other family members at the home of Don and Cecile Penney in Topeka Saturday. Others present for the pre-Christmas celebration were Virgil and Barb Gooding of El Dorado and Al and Lila Gooding, Jerry and Marge Carver, Art and Evelyn Schultz and Sherri Rokey and Carina of Topeka. Elmer and Joyce Gooding of Tempe, Ariz., were unable to attend.

Tom and Dee Duggan, Adeline Bernhardt, Leona Kleiber, and Jane Vajnar attended the friendship supper and program given by the youth of Morning Star Church Thursday evening at the Durham community building.

Reuben and Lucille Kerbs kept some appointments in Abilene Friday and then visited Connie Thompson and Taylor. All enjoyed dinner out.

Terry and Cindy Vinduska of Marion, Lynn Kleiber of Salina, Dean and Becky Routh, Melody, Allison, and Danielle of Augusta, and Leona Kleiber joined other relatives in Hays Nov. 29 to attend the funeral of Gene Kleiber at Saint Joseph Catholic Church. All attended the dinner afterward.

Deb and Kaylee Hall of Herington and Tom and Dee Duggan spent Thanksgiving weekend in Lee's Summit, Mo., where they visited Darla Hall and Adam. On Friday evening they celebrated Deb's upcoming birthday. Darla took Deb to the Chiefs' game as a birthday gift.
