Francis and Mary Jirak are the proud grandparents of Gabriel Michael, born Aug. 20 to Albert and Teresa Jirak of Goddard. Gabriel weighed 3 pounds 2 ounces and was 15 inches long. He is welcomed by a big brother, Blaise, 2. His maternal grandparents are Bruce and Janet Gfeller of Lincoln, Neb. Great-grandparents are Max Gfeller of Lincoln, Neb., James and Julietta Seiler of Colwich, and Margaret Jirak.

Irene Beames of Ramona and Anna Mae Stika enjoyed dinner at the café Wednesday.

Georgia Spohn met Lenora Graham of Florence in Marion Wednesday morning for coffee and rolls.

Brad Backhus was honored with a birthday party Sunday at the home of his daughter and son-in-law, Mike and Jennifer Jay of Hillsboro. Other guests were Bev and Tom Reid of Marion County Lake, Jason Backhus, and Paul and Edna Backhus.

Jane Vajnar visited Reuben and Lucille Kerbs Monday afternoon.

Tom and Dee Duggan spent from Sunday to Tuesday with Darla Hall and Adam at Lee's Summit, Mo.

Don and Ophelia Jacobson and Greg Jacobson of Hope, Mike and Jennifer Jay of Hillsboro, Bev and Tom Reid of Marion County Lake, Rodney Mueller, and Phyllis Mueller were among the relatives and friends attending a party in celebration of Jody Heath's 40th birthday Saturday at Old Bel Tree Farm Building in Salina.

Georgia Spohn visited Mary Reich at the assisted living facility in Herington Sunday afternoon.

Sean Leihy of Hillsboro, Tillie Hein, and Martha Melcher attended the card party in Herington Sunday evening.

Andrea Kleiber and Dale Klenda were Sunday visitors of Leona Kleiber.

Don and Paula Witt were Sunday evening visitors of Adeline Bernhardt.

Vic Backhus of Herington and Paul and Edna Backhus joined about 40 other relatives and friends for a dinner party at a Wichita restaurant Saturday in celebration of the 80th birthday of William Taylor of Shawnee. After dinner all were invited to the home of Taylor's daughter and family, Mike and Kathleen Dillman and family, in Andover.

Adeline Bernhardt visited Lorraine Havlik of Marion Saturday and had lunch with her.

Dee Duggan picked up her granddaughter, Kaylee Hall of Herington, from day-care Friday. They did some shopping and visited Rhea Kolling at her home. Kaylee accompanied Dee back to Tampa, where she was an overnight guest of Tom and Dee Duggan. On Saturday morning they all went to Abilene. While Tom attended a district Lions Club meeting, Dee and Kaylee enjoyed breakfast out and then rode the Abilene and Smoky Valley Railroad to Enterprise and back.

Georgia Spohn visited Marguerite Goertz and her daughter Benita in Hillsboro Friday morning.

Terry Vinduska and Leona Kleiber enjoyed dinner Aug. 14 at the café.
