Tampa: Cards and visits requested for Konarik

Martha Melcher's brother, Stanley Konarik, now is in Marion Manor at Marion recovering from a broken hip. Cards and visits from friends would be appreciated.

Donald and Carolyn Srajer were Tuesday overnight guests of Tillie Hein. They watched Grant and Cole Srajer's soccer practices that evening. Additional Sunday dinner guests at Tillie's home were Jim and Kris Srajer, Grant and Cole. The Srajers were en route to their home in Omaha, Neb., after spending two months in Mesa, Ariz.

The Lutheran Women's Missionary League visited Salem Home Wednesday afternoon at Hillsboro. Those participating included Joyce Medley, Betty Mueller, Cindy Bentz, Leona Kleiber, Edna Mueller, and Adeline Bernhardt. Afterward, the group went out for treats.

Bishop Michael Jackels of Wichita presided Sunday at the confirmation of 43 youth from Holy Family Parish at Pilsen. Father Hien Nguyen and Father John Jirak were concelebrants. A potluck dinner followed the Mass. Young people from the Tampa religion classes who were confirmed included Kristine Jirak, Seth Jirak, Samantha Alvarez, Tyrel Blecha, Amy Hajek, Mark Prieb, Julie Rziha, Grant Schneider, Alisha Barney, Gloria Belton, Megan Gutsch, Lucas Hamm, Alfonse Klenda, Sean Leihy, Kevin Mueller, Chelsey Tajchman, James Clark, Ashley Griffith, Bryant Gutsch, Jackie Klenda, Jeremy Kristek, Clinton Schneider, and Joseph Stroda.

Georgia Spohn visited Marguerite Goertz Wednesday morning at Hillsboro.

Warren and Paula Fike of Ramona, Art and Betty Mueller, David Mueller, and Danny Williams enjoyed dinner Wednesday at the cafe in celebration of Paula's birthday.

Family and friends gathered Sunday evening at the senior center for a chili supper in honor of Seth Jirak's and Kristine Jirak's confirmation with Francis and Mary Jirak and Steve and Vickie Jirak as hosts. Others present included Father John Jirak of Wichita, James and Sandy Jirak, Monica, Dominic, Isaac, and Elizabeth and Albert and Teresa Jirak and Blaise of Goddard, Maria and Travis Gear of Winfield, Raschelle Jirak of Emporia, Teresa Tajchman and Jacob and Elias Jirak of Ramona, Nathan Brunner of Hays, Jackie Jirak, Ethan, Heidi, Emma, Leo, Pius, and Ivan of Oakley, Evelyn, Dennis, and Tiffany Tajchman of Wichita, Margaret Jirak, Ron Jirak, Jesse and Rita Brunner, Phil and Melissa Flory, Tim and Monica Svoboda, Houston, Max, and Aidan, and Kris Srajer, Grant and Cole. Also being celebrated were the birthdays of Monica and Isaac.

Georgia Spohn met Lenora Graham of Florence in Hillsboro Monday for the Learning in Retirement program at Tabor College and dinner out.

Martha Melcher and Tillie Hein attended the confirmation Sunday of Darrel and Bradon Melcher of Herington.

Lorraine Havlik of Marion met Adeline Bernhardt and Leona Kleiber Sunday at the cafe for dinner. Afterward, they all attended the open house at Morning Star Church.

Tampa Community Association met Saturday morning at the cafe. President Carole Spohn informed the group that a reporter with the Salina Journal had come to Tampa to do a feature story about the community's efforts to get back a post office. It is hoped the publicity will possibly aid in getting the postal service to reinstate a post office here. The TCA also decided to replant the flower pots on the street and to add four additional planters. Carole Spohn and Leona Kleiber each volunteered to donate two planters. Arrangements have been made to have the windows on Main Street painted with spring scenes before Easter.

Reuben and Lucille Kerbs attended visitation Friday evening for Dick Schulz at Stockham Family Funeral Home on McPherson. Schulz was the brother-in-law of Joyce Gooding. Reuben and Lucille had the opportunity to visit with Elmer and Joyce Gooding, Shane Faulkner, and Tom and Denise McClain, Macy and Shannon, all from Arizona.

Joe Cox and Everett Kolling visited Tom Duggan March 29 while their wives attended a Red Hat Society luncheon.

Youth from Holy Family Parish earned recognition at the Diocesan Catholic Youth Organization's convention March 25-26 at Wichita. Kristine Jirak was elected to the Diocesan Catholic Youth Board. Seth Jirak and Amanda Bina were chosen to serve on the Region 2 youth board. Jackie Klenda and Andrew Bina were named outstanding Catholic youth for Region 2, and Jackie was selected as female outstanding Catholic youth for the whole diocese. Jeremy Kristek and Rachel Davidson were awarded the Light of Christ award. Holy Family was the only parish in Region 2 to win the parish recognition award and the On Fire with Faith award. The parish also was afforded recognition for 12 years of giving to Latin American missions. The parish scrapbook earned first place in the diocese.

Don and Betty Frick of Topeka visited Tom and Dee Duggan March 28 and all enjoyed dinner at the cafe.

Leona Kleiber was a recent visitor of Pearl Belton.

Edna Mueller visited March 28 with Tom and Dee Duggan.

Tom and Dee Duggan attended the Flint Hills Rural Electric Association meeting March 21. Their granddaughter, Kaylee Hall, performed with a group of dancers.
