Tampa: Community float takes second in Ramona s 4th of July parade

Tampa's community float took second place in the town spirit category at Ramona's Fourth of July parade. In keeping with the parade's theme of fairy tales and folklore, the float was titled "Tampa Telling Tales." Folk characters depicted included Little Red Riding Hood (Lori Moldenhauer), Jasmine and her tiger (Nikki Stenzel and her Great Dane), Cinderella and Prince Charming (Tom and Dee Duggan), and a leprechaun (Jane Vajnar). Other Tampa boosters on board were Gary and Carole Spohn, Kaylee Hall, and her friend. Tom Moldenhauer drove the truck. Hats off to Lincolnville, whose Wizard of Oz float took first in the town spirit division. Tyler Bentz as Peter Pan was the first place winner among the children's entries. Many Tampa people attended the festivities and watched the parade and/or the fireworks display.

Fourth of July weekend guests of Jerry and Jeanne Rziha and Julie were Wayne and Shannon Rziha, Cecilia Marie and Anthony of Tulsa, Okla., Emilio and Janie Aita and John and Jeanne Rziha, Michael, Christopher, Joseph, Timothy, and Thomas of Atchison, Jim and Diane Herron, Andrew and Peter of Topeka, and the "homeless ones," Susie Rziha and Cecilia Rziha.

Independence Day supper guests of Phyllis and Rodney Mueller were Ron and Jody Heath, Danielle and Tyler of Salina, Tom and Bev Reid of rural Marion, Mike and Jennifer Jay of Hillsboro, Don and Ophelia Jacobson and Greg Jacobson of Hope, Paul and Edna Backhus, and Brad Backhus. After Brad went home to do chores, the others went to Ramona for the parade and then shot fireworks at Phyllis's place.

Guests of Frank and Anna Mae Stika for a barbecue Tuesday noon were Ronnie and Lisa Hanschu, James and Anna, and Tom and Lori Moldenhauer and Nikki. All went to Ramona for the Fourth of July events. Anna walked in the parade.

Those who reported attending Ramona's Fourth of July activities included Georgia Spohn, Tillie Hein, Martha Melcher, Leona Kleiber, and Adeline Bernhardt.

Jane Vajnar met Delbert and Madeline Stuive in Salina Monday for dinner out and an afternoon of visiting. The Stuives have been spending a couple of months in Carneiro and planned to return to their home in Casa Grande, Ariz., Thursday.

Adeline Bernhardt and Leona Kleiber met Peggy Kleiber in Salina Monday for dinner out.

Greg Sklenar of Wichita and Valerie Hampton of Hillsboro were Sunday dinner guests of their mother, Lois Sklenar.

Barney and Linda Bernhardt and Megan and McKinze Kettler of Wichita were Monday supper and evening guests of Adeline Bernhardt.

John Rziha, who recently earned his doctorate in moral theology, Caterina Rziha, who received her doctor of pharmacy degree, and Emilio Aita, who got his bachelor of arts degree in religious studies, physical education, and secondary education, were honored Sunday with a congratulations party at the senior center. Jerry and Jeanne Rziha were hosts for the event with assistance from other family members. Many relatives and friends attended.

Daniel and Melissa Stuchlik, Tanner and Allie were Saturday evening visitors of her grandmother, Leona Kleiber.

Anna Weber spent June 25-30 attending a church camp at Horizon Camp near Arkansas City. Frank and Anna Mae Stika accompanied Lisa Hanschu to pick her up Friday. They enjoyed seeing the camp, especially Inspiration Point, and attending a program presented by the campers. Later, they all drove into Oklahoma for some sightseeing.

Andrea Kleiber and Leona Kleiber enjoyed dinner at the cafe Saturday.

Tom and Dee Duggan attended a coach pitch ball game June 26 at Lincolnville. Their granddaughter, Kaylee Hall of Herington, was playing.

Leona Kleiber visited her daughter, Cindy Vinduska of Marion June 26.
