Tampa: Family helps Jerry Rziha celebrate birthday

Feb. 2-8

Weekend guests of Jerry and Jeanne Rziha and Julie were Wayne and Shannon Rziha, Cecilia and Anthony of Tulsa, Okla., John and Jeanne Rziha, Michael, Christopher, Joseph, Timothy, and Thomas, Emilio and Janie Aita of Atchison, Jim and Diane Herron, Andrew and Peter of Solomon, Susie Rziha of Independence, Dave and Caterina Rziha of Council Grove, and Cecilia Rziha of Hays. They were here to help Jerry celebrate his birthday.

Dinner guests Feb. 12 of Frank and Anna Mae Stika for a special Valentine celebration were Ronnie and Lisa Hanschu, James and Anna and Tom and Lori Moldenhauer and Nikki.

Carl, Kathy, and Clint Hubbard and Andrea King of Wellington were Feb. 12 dinner guests of Adeline Bernhardt in celebration of Clint's birthday, which was Feb. 13. Birthday cake and ice cream were served in the afternoon.

Jesse and Ashton Smith of Salina and Russ and Julie Kerbs and Rustyn were Sunday after-church visitors of Reuben and Lucille Kerbs.

Mary Christiansen of Durham, Adeline Bernhardt, Leona Kleiber, and Dee Duggan joined nine other members of the Red Hat Society Wednesday for a luncheon at the home of Karolyn Schlesener of Herington. Alice Bell was an assisting hostess.

Anna Mae Stika and Lori Moldenhauer attended the Tabitha Society Valentine party and meeting Wednesday evening at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Herington. Gifts were exchanged and prayer partners revealed.

Adeline Bernhardt and Leona Kleiber attended a Boy Scout spaghetti supper Sunday evening at Trinity United Methodist Church in Salina. Leona's grandson, Nicholas Kleiber is a member of the sponsoring troop. They were overnight guests of Lynn and Peggy Kleiber and Nicholas and returned home Monday morning.

Anna Mae Stika attended the funeral Monday morning of Lucille Johnson at Herington.

Kaylee Hall of Herington was a Friday to Sunday guest of her grandparents, Tom and Dee Duggan. Her mother, Deb Hall met Darla Hall of Lee's Summit, Mo., Sunday at Lawrence for the Kansas-Oklahoma basketball game. Tom, Dee, and Kaylee attended Jerry Rziha's birthday party Sunday evening at the senior center.

Reuben and Lucille Kerbs went to Abilene Saturday to watch their granddaughter, Taylor Thompson play basketball.

Andrea Kleiber of Manhattan and Dale Klenda were Friday supper and evening guests of Leona Kleiber.

Reuben and Lucille Kerbs attended the junior high basketball game and parents' night Thursday evening at Centre. Their grandson, Rustyn Kerbs is on the team.

The Lutheran Women's Missionary League met Feb. 1 at the church with Edna Mueller as hostess. Pastor Clark Davis led the topic. Others present were Cindy Bentz, Janet Bielefeld, Joyce Medley, Adeline Bernhardt, Leona Kleiber, Betty Mueller, and Edna Backhus.

Tom and Lori Moldenhauer and Nikki and Frank and Anna Mae Stika enjoyed supper out Jan. 27 at Durham.

Lisa Hanschu and Frank and Anna Mae Stika attended a Kansas Day program Jan. 27 at Centre Middle School. Anna Weber was one of the students performing.

Jan. 26-Feb. 1

Ted and Maxine Zielinski and Tim Zielinski of Omaha, Neb., were weekend guests of Jim and Kris Srajer, Grant and Cole. The men enjoyed hunting. Maxine and Tillie Hein accompanied Kris, Grant, and Cole Friday afternoon to Marion to watch Grant play basketball. Don and Carolyn Srajer of Omaha, Neb., joined them at the game. All enjoyed supper at Kingfisher Steakhouse and Lounge. Don and Carolyn came to Tampa for the rest of the weekend. They departed Tuesday morning for Mesa, Ariz., where they will spend the next couple of months.

Georgia Spohn met Lenora Graham of Florence Wednesday at Hillsboro for dinner out.

Lynn Kleiber visited late Tuesday afternoon with his mother, Leona Kleiber.

Tom and Dee Duggan visited Carolyn Duggan Tuesday at her home at Hutchinson.

Leona Kleiber and Adeline Bernhardt enjoyed dinner out Sunday at Hillsboro and attended the Hillsboro Community Medical Center open house.

Edna Mueller, Linda Ihde, and Adeline Bernhardt attended the soup supper and card tournament Sunday evening at Ramona.

Valerie Hampton of Hillsboro was a Sunday dinner guest of her mother, Lois Sklenar.

Deb Hall and Kaylee of Herington and Tom and Dee Duggan were hosts Sunday evening for a card party at the Duggan home. Guests included Phyllis Allen, Barbara Askew, Liz Monnington, Eleanore Rucker, Art Garver, John and Lucille Heiser, Milt and Verda Fleming, Everett and Rhea Kolling, and Ken and Goldie Vaughn. John Heiser and Rhea and Everett Kolling won the prizes for cards, and Eleanore Rucker won the door prize. Winners received sets of Kansas quarters since Sunday was Kansas Day.

Girls who had participated in a recent cheer clinic performed Tuesday evening with the Centre cheerleaders at halftime of the Centre-St. John's Military Academy game. A number of Tampa youngsters were in the group.

Tom and Dee Duggan's granddaughter, Kaylee Hall, participated Friday evening in a spirit dance at the basketball game in Herington.

Adeline Bernhardt was a Thursday evening supper guest of Don and Paula Witt.

Leona Kleiber and Adeline Bernhardt met Peggy Kleiber Jan. 25 for dinner out at Salina.

Jan. 19-25

Julie Noeth recently ran a marathon in Dallas, Texas. She finished the 26.2-mile course in four hours, 31 minutes.

Prairie Pals met Tuesday evening in St. John's Lutheran Church basement. Tom and Dee Duggan told the group about their river cruise in Europe and showed pictures. Michele Berens and Jane Vajnar were hostesses. Others present included Virginia Bentz, Laveta Meyer, Julie Noeth, Shirley Krause, Mary Clemmer, Iona Dietrich, and Paula Witt.

Many from Tampa and the surrounding area enjoyed a bingo night Sunday evening at the senior center. The occasion was sponsored by Tampa Community Association.

Andrew Hajek and Shaina Makovec were among the Kansas State University students who had the privilege Monday of attending the Landon Lecture by President George W. Bush. They waited in line for several hours to get a seat for the event.

Lucille Kerbs visited Tuesday afternoon with Adeline Bernhardt.

Mary Jirak, Travis and Maria Gear, Father John Jirak, and Janie Aita were among those who participated over the weekend in a pro-life march at Washington, D.C.

Susie Rziha of Independence was a weekend guest of Jerry and Jeanne Rziha and Julie. Jim and Diane Herron, Andrew and Peter of Solomon joined them Sunday.

Visitors of Reuben and Lucille Kerbs for snacks after church Sunday were Ashton Smith of Salina and Russ and Julie Kerbs and Rustyn.

A group of Centre High School students participated Saturday in an FFA speech contest at Manhattan. Nellie Hill won the senior division for a $50 prize. Tampa youth in the group included Gloria Belton, Kristine Jirak, Julie Rziha, Allie Will, and Nathan Barney.

Verda Flaming of Herington and Dee Duggan attended a Herington Hospital auxiliary luncheon Friday at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church at Herington.

Tom Duggan visited his granddaughter, Kaylee Hall, at her school Jan. 17 at Herington and helped her make a snowman from a sock.

Marcel and Irma Benda visited Jan. 15 with Frank and Anna Mae Stika.

Tajchman is

KSU graduate

Centre High School graduate Jenna Tajchman graduated in December 2005 from Kansas State University.

Tajchman earned a bachelor of science degree in agribusiness, and graduated cum laude, ranking in the upper 10 percent of her college class.

She is the daughter of Joe and Barbara Tajchman of Lincolnville.
