Sunflower Senior Citizens met Tuesday at the senior center. Tillie Hein and Martha Melcher were hostesses, although Martha was unable to be at the meeting. The group enjoyed a potluck dinner, business meeting, and card bingo with prizes furnished by the hostess. Others present were Tom and Dee Duggan, Gary and Carole Spohn, Jim and Mary Clemmer, Helen Costello, Ruby Vinduska, Margaret Jirak, Magdalen Dvorak, Bonnie Crandall, and Jim Oborny. Don and Paula Witt briefly stopped by. The Clemmers and Spohns stayed to do work on the crusade to get the post office reopened.

Wednesday must have been a good day for getting out and about. Your correspondent talked to a lot of answering machines, and they couldn't give her much copy for this column.

Nathan Barney was given the Greenhand Award Tuesday evening at the FFA banquet. Jackie Klenda was the recipient of the Earl Wineinger scholarship.

James Weber won three medals Monday at the track meet at Solomon.

Nikki Stenzel received a I rating in oral interpretation of prose and a medal at the state forensics meet Saturday at Salina. Her parents, Lori Moldenhauer and Greg Stenzel were present to hear her perform. Nellie Hill also earned a I rating with an oration.
