Tampa: Large group attends THS alumni banquet

A large crowd attended the Tampa High School alumni banquet Saturday evening at the senior center. Officers in charge of the event were Kelly Novak, president; Francis Jirak, vice president; Judy Stika, secretary; and Dennis Klenda, treasurer. All were re-elected. Kelly Novak was unable to attend the banquet, and Kenny Novak took over the duties for the evening. The dinner was catered by Maggie Meisinger and crew. Honored classes were 1914, 1915, 1924, 1925, 1934, 1935, 1944, 1945, 1954, 1955, 1964, 1965, 1974, 1975, 1984, 1985, 1994, and 1995. Entertainment included a special in-house production with Francis Jirak as master of ceremonies and other alumni performing and music by Alex Stuchlik's polka band.

Jim and Mary Clemmer went to Emporia Tuesday and visited Faye Jaggard, Adeline Wood, and Ranney Vogt.

Jane Vajnar visited Tuesday with Reuben and Lucille Kerbs.

Paul and Edna Backhus were Sunday dinner guests of Bev and Tom Reid. Additional guests were Mike and Jennifer Jay of Hillsboro, Brad Backhus, and Jason Backhus. In the afternoon the women attended the Christmas homes tours in Marion and Hillsboro.

Carl and Kathy Hubbard of Wellington were Sunday dinner guests of Adeline Bernhardt.

Relatives attending the baptism of Saige Mueller, daughter of Mike and Shelia Mueller of Laramie, Wyo., Saturday at Zion Lutheran Church in Hillsboro included Rodney and Jody Heath, Danielle and Tyler of Salina, Jennifer Jay and Mackenzie Parsons of Hillsboro, Tom and Bev Reid of Marion County Lake, Phyllis Mueller, Rodney Mueller, Paul and Edna Backhus, and Jason Backhus. Following the ceremony, all were luncheon guests of Elda Ebel.

Lawrence and Ruth Mueller of Iola paid a brief visit Saturday to Art and Betty Mueller.

Helen Benson of Raytown, Mo., was a Saturday overnight guest of Adeline Bernhardt, and they attended the alumni banquet.

Don and Cecile Penney of Topeka were brief visitors Saturday afternoon of Reuben and Lucille Kerbs and all attended the alumni banquet.

Anna Mae Stika and Lori Moldenhauer and Nikki spent Friday in Wichita.

Tony Young of Goessel visited Lois Sklenar Friday afternoon.

Tillie Hein and Jim and Kris Srajer, Grant and Cole were guests of Bill and Pam Fillmore of Cottonwood Falls for a family Thanksgiving dinner. Other guests were Ron and Dolores Scott of Emporia, Steve and Jan Fillmore and Taylor Marie of Cottonwood Falls, and Kristin Srajer of Omaha, Neb. Kristin came to Tampa for the weekend as a guest of Tillie and Jim, Kris and sons. Tim and Sue Zielinski, Charlie and Casey arrived Friday. All enjoyed Sunday dinner at the Srajer home.

Jim and Mary Clemmer joined other family members for Thanksgiving at the Dale Clemmer home in Salina.

Thanksgiving guests of Ronnie and Lisa Hanschu, James and Anna were Frank and Anna Mae Stika and Tom and Lori Moldenhauer.

Thanksgiving dinner guests of Phyllis and Rodney Mueller were Elda Ebel of Hillsboro, Debbie Eccli of Cheyenne, Wyo., Mike and Shelia Mueller and Saige of Laramie, Wyo., Don and Ophelia Jacobson and Greg Jacobson of Hope, Tom and Bev Reid of Marion County Lake, Paul and Edna Backhus, Brad Backhus, and Jason Backhus. Additional afternoon and supper guests were Ron and Jody Heath, Danielle and Tyler of Salina, Mike and Jennifer Jay of Hillsboro, and John and Wanda Lewis, Paul, Sarah, and Luke of Andover.

Clayton Kerbs and Leah Schmidt of Omaha, Neb., were Wednesday overnight guests of Reuben and Lucille Kerbs. They joined other family members for Thanksgiving at the home of Russ and Julie Kerbs and Rustyn. Other guests were Glenn and Eloise Kerbs of Dodge City, Tim and Marchelle Kerbs and April and Jesse and Ashton Smith of Salina, Molly Kerbs of Hays, Doug and Connie Thompson and Taylor of Abilene, Allison Phillips of Manhattan, and Reuben and Cristy Kerbs of Wichita.

Thanksgiving weekend guests of Art and Betty Mueller were Andrea Mueller of Syracuse, N.Y., Christina and Travis Schroeder and Austin from Arizona, and Doug Mueller and Donovan from Wisconsin. David Mueller was an additional Thanksgiving dinner guest and a frequent visitor throughout the weekend.

Terry and Cindy Vinduska of Marion were hosts for a family Thanksgiving dinner. Guests were Lynn and Peggy Kleiber and Nicholas of Salina, Amanda Kleiber and Armando and Jill Tarin of Manhattan, Andrea Kleiber of El Dorado, Dean and Becky Routh, Melody, Allison, and Danielle of Augusta, Adeline Bernhardt, and Leona Kleiber. Melissa Stuchlik and Tanner joined them in the afternoon. En route home Lynn and Peggy Kleiber, Amanda, Andrea, and Nicholas stopped at Leona's home for supper.

Karen Sklenar visited Nov. 22 with Lois Sklenar and her houseguest, Larry Hampton of Sierra Vista, Ariz.

Thanksgiving guests of John and Kathy Oborny and Diane Steiner were Bill and Janet Walsh, Andy, Kelly, and Dan of Wichita, Jim Oborny, Dan and Kim Oborny, Ethan and Logan, and Jane Vajnar.

Larry and Valerie Hampton enjoyed lunch Nov. 22 at Hillsboro.

Singers to perform

MHS Singers will be singing Christmas carols from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday on Main Street, Marion.
