Tampa: Prairie Pals view taxidermy presentation

Prairie Pals met Tuesday evening in St. John's Lutheran Church basement with Melissa Stuchlik and Iona Dietrich as hostesses. Melissa shared information about a class she had taken about women's health issues. For the second half of the program Charles Stuchlik talked about taxidermy and showed the women some of the specimens he has mounted. Other members present were Virginia Bentz, Michele Berens, Lori Meyer, Laveta Meyer, Jeanne Rziha, and Jane Vajnar.

Members of the Red Hat Society enjoyed lunch Wednesday at the cafe. Dee Duggan was the hostess. Others in attendance included Ramona Goracke and Betty Schlesener of Hope, Mary Christiansen of Durham, Joyce Cox of Abilene, Phyllis Allen, Alice Bell, Rhea Kolling, Sue McIntyre, Rose Mary Deines, Karolyn Schlesener, Liz Monnington, and Helen Sorenson, all of Herington, Adeline Bernhardt, and Leona Kleiber.

Frank and Anna Mae Stika and Ronnie and Lisa Hanschu and James attended a biddy basketball game Tuesday evening at Centre to watch Anna Weber play.

Georgia Spohn met Lenora Graham of Florence Monday at Hillsboro. They attended the Learning in Retirement program at Tabor College and enjoyed lunch out. The program was presented by Dr. Lynn Jost and others in a group who had taken a journey to India during interterm.

Leona Kleiber and Adeline Bernhardt enjoyed dinner out Tuesday at Salina.

Tom and Lori Moldenhauer and Nikki enjoyed supper out Monday at Salina in celebration of Tom and Lori's wedding anniversary.

Reuben and Lucille Kerbs attended a luncheon and reception Sunday at Our Savior Lutheran Church, Marion. The occasion was a celebration of Dwight and Jane Gooding's 40th wedding anniversary. Others attending included Virgil and Barb Gooding of El Dorado, Al and Lila Gooding of Topeka, and many other relatives and friends.

A good crowd attended game night Sunday evening at the senior center.

Mike and Jennifer Jay of Hillsboro, Don and Ophelia Jacobson and Greg Jacobson of Hope, Paul and Edna Backhus, Phyllis Mueller, and Rodney Mueller attended a men's basketball tournament Sunday evening at Abilene. Jason Backhus' team won the championship.

Kathy Davis, Centre Junior High quiz coach, took two teams Monday evening to the league quiz tournament in White City. The junior varsity team consisting of Jacob Jirak, Cole Svoboda, Tanner Brunner, Tyler Klenda, and Brian Burhoop placed second. Congratulations, guys.

Jerry and Jeanne Rziha and Julie and their houseguest, Susie Rziha, spent Sunday with Diane Herron, Andrew, Peter, and Maria of Solomon.

Kristine Jirak was elected to the diocesan Catholic Youth Organization board at the CYO convention in Wichita this past weekend. Other Tampa youth attending the convention included Amy Hajek, Julie Rziha, Kevin Mueller, Alisha and Nathan Barney, Gloria Belton, Jackie and Alphonse Klenda, and Seth Jirak.

Greg Sklenar of Wichita was a weekend guest of his mother, Lois Sklenar. Valerie Hampton of Hillsboro was an additional Sunday dinner guest.

Anna Mae Stika and Anna Weber attended a party Sunday afternoon in celebration of Robbie Beames's second birthday at the home of Robbie's parents, Rusty and Samantha Beames, at Herington.

Jesse and Ashton Smith of Salina and Russ and Julie Kerbs and Rustyn were Sunday after-church guests of Reuben and Lucille Kerbs.

Helen Benson of Raytown, Mo., was a Saturday afternoon visitor of Reuben and Lucille Kerbs and a Saturday supper and overnight guest of Adeline Bernhardt.

Georgia Spohn visited Friday afternoon with Marguerite Goertz of Hillsboro.

Anna Mae Stika, Lori Moldenhauer and Nikki, and Lisa Hanschu, James and Anna enjoyed dinner out and a movie Saturday at Salina.
