Tampa: Retired railroad workers meet in Council Grove

Kathy Hubbard of Wellington helped her mother, Adeline Bernhardt, celebrate her birthday with dinner out and a movie in Salina.

Reuben and Lucille Kerbs spent Sunday in Council Grove, where they met a group of retired railroad workers and their wives for dinner at Hays House, followed by an afternoon of visiting at the lake.

Frank and Anna Mae Stika were dinner guests of Tom and Lori Moldenhauer and Ronnie and Lisa Hanschu, James and Anna at Brookville Hotel in Abilene in celebration of their wedding anniversary.

Relatives gathering Sunday afternoon at the home of Terry and Cindy Vinduska in Marion to watch Armando and Jill Tarin open their wedding gifts included Jesus and Carrie Tarin, Uriel, Geraldo, and Rolando, Melissa Stuchlik and Tanner, Kim Osenga, Ruby Vinduska, and Leona Kleiber. Refreshments of wedding cake and drinks were served.

Weekend guests of Jerry and Jeanne Rziha, Cecilia and Julie were Shannon Rziha, Cecilia Marie and Anthony of Tulsa, Okla., Janie Rziha and John and Jeanne Rziha, Michael, Christopher, Joseph, Timothy, and Thomas of Atchison, David Rziha of Council Grove and Caterina Rozman of Overland Park. Diane Herron, Andrew and Peter of Solomon joined them Saturday. Susie Rziha of Independence came Sunday to stay through this week. The women attended a family bridal shower Sunday afternoon for Janie and Caterina at Diane's home.

Bob and Dorothy Gresham of McPherson, Mary Reich of Hope, and Georgia Spohn enjoyed dinner out Sunday in Herington.

Robert and Mary McDonald of Strafford, Mo., Lucy Young and Greg Sklenar of Wichita, and Valerie Hampton of Hillsboro spent Saturday with Lois Sklenar. Greg remained through the weekend.

Reuben and Lucille Kerbs went Saturday to Abilene and visited Connie Thompson, Allison and Taylor. All enjoyed dinner out.

Cecilia and Janie Rziha both made the dean's honor roll second semester at Fort Hays State University and Benedictine College, respectively.

Relatives attending the wedding of Jill Vinduska and Armando Tarin Saturday afternoon at St. John Nep. Catholic Church at Pilsen included Terry and Cindy Vinduska of Marion, Sara Hanson of Fayetteville, N.C., Daniel and Melissa Stuchlik and Tanner of Pilsen, Jesus and Carrie Tarin, Geraldo and Rolando of Johnson, Uriel Tarin, Ron and Tammi Vinduska and Kristi of Topeka, Staci Vinduska of Manhattan, Ruby Vinduska of Pilsen, Gene and Marianne Kleiber of Hays, Steve Kleiber of St. Charles, Mo., Dean and Becky Routh, Melody, Allison, and Danielle of Augusta, Amanda Kleiber and Tim Baxa of Manhattan, Lynn and Peggy Kleiber, Andrea and Nicholas, Adeline Bernhardt, and Leona Kleiber. Most of the group also attended the reception, dinner, and dance. The Rouths were Friday overnight guests of Leona.

The Centre High School parliamentary law team placed third in competition at the state FFA convention May 31 through Friday. The team is comprised of Julie Rziha, Kristine Jirak, Gloria Belton, Jackie Klenda, Steven Hageberg, and Tad Remy. Nellie Hill took first in the creed contest. Centre also took first for its scrapbook. Jackie Klenda and Alisha Barney headed the scrapbook committee.

Jesus and Carrie Tarin of Johnson were hosts for the Vinduska-Tarin rehearsal dinner Friday evening at St. Mark's Activity Center in Marion.

Frank and Anna Mae Stika enjoyed dinner in Hillsboro in celebration of their wedding anniversary.

Carl and Kathy Hubbard of Wellington met Adeline Bernhardt in Marion May 31 and had dinner out. Kathy was Adeline's guest until Thursday, when Carl Hubbard of Wellington, Clinton Hubbard of Dallas, Texas, and Dee Anna Stout of Wichita joined them in attending the funeral of Milda Krauter at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Peabody.

Supper guests Wednesday of Phyllis Mueller and Rodney Mueller were John and Mary Katherine Lorei of Highland, Calif., Don and Ophelia Jacobson and Greg Jacobson of Hope, and Paul and Edna Backhus.

Guests for a Memorial Day cookout at the home of Frank and Anna Mae Stika were Tom and Lori Moldenhauer and Ronnie and Lisa Hanschu, James and Anna.

Reuben and Lucille Kerbs spent Memorial Day in El Dorado where they were dinner guests of Virgil and Barbara Gooding. Later they all visited the cemetery and did some sightseeing.

Caterina Rozman, bride-elect of David Rziha, and Janie Rziha, bride-elect of Emilio Aita, were honored with a bridal shower May 30 at the home of Myrna Hamm. Other hostesses were Mary Jirak, Kris Srajer, and Monica Svoboda. Brunch was served to numerous family members and friends of the honored guests.

Amanda Kleiber and Tim Baxa of Manhattan and Lynn and Peggy Kleiber and Nicholas were May 29 evening visitors of Leona Kleiber.

The Ramona alumni reunion was held May 29 at Centre Elementary School in Lost Springs. A program titled "School Daze" depicted a typical day of school. The cast consisted of Ramona alumni and their children and grandchildren. Among those in the cast were Anna Mae Stika, Lori Moldenhauer, Lisa Hanschu, Nikki Stenzel, and James Weber.

Russ and Julie Kerbs and Rustyn, Ashton Kerbs, and Reuben and Lucille Kerbs enjoyed a potluck cookout May 29 at Reuben and Lucille's home.

Jane Vajnar spent May 26-29 with Delbert and Madeline Stuive at Carneiro. She spent some time visiting with old high school friends after the alumni banquet at Ellsworth Saturday evening, paid visits to Jon and Wanda Sneath at Carneiro, Marc and Wendy Stroede and Ina Hurley in Kanopolis, and talked to a number of relatives and friends when she visited the cemetery and attended church at Carneiro.

Adeline Bernhardt and Leona Kleiber attended Memorial Day services at Lewis Cemetery in Ramona followed by a potluck dinner at the parish hall.

Daniel and Melissa Stuchlik and Tanner were hosts May 29 for a cookout at their home. Guests were Terry and Cindy Vinduska of Marion, Jill Vinduska and Armando Tarin of Manhattan, Candee Thode of Wichita, Monte and Sarah Stuchlik, Megan Stuchlik, Ruby Vinduska, and Leona Kleiber. Later, all enjoyed birthday cake in honor of Melissa's birthday.

The class being promoted from eighth grade at Centre's graduation ceremony May 25 included three Tampa youngsters, Nathan Barney, Sheila Makovec, and James Weber. All received a number of awards with Nathan honored with the citizenship award and the Ryan Neustrom award. Two Tampa youth graduated May 26 from Hillsboro Middle School. Isaac Leihy graduated with honors and Nicholas Mueller with highest honors. To graduate with honors a student had to be on the honor roll at least six of the eight nine-week periods in seventh and eighth grades. To achieve highest honors required being on the high honor roll at least six of the eight grading periods. Congratulations to all of these fine young people. Your community is proud of you.

James Weber was honored with a party after his graduation at the home of his family, Ronnie and Lisa Hanschu and Anna. Guests included Burma Hanschu, Doris Sly, Frank and Anna Mae Stika, Tom and Lori Moldenhauer and Nikki, Paul and Edna Backhus, Jim and Marilyn Anderson, Josh Leach, Kent Sly, Alisha and Kelsci, and Terry and Julie Deines and family.

Jerry and Jeanne Rziha, Cecilia and Julie attended commencement May 14 at Benedictine College in Atchison followed by a party at the home of Janie Rziha. Janie graduated with honors with degrees in philosophy, theology, and religious studies. Other family members present were John and Jeanne Rziha, Michael, Christopher, Joseph, Timothy, and Thomas of Atchison, Jim and Diane Herron, Andrew and Peter of Solomon, and Susie Rziha of Independence.
