Tampa: Rodney Mueller bowls perfect game

March 2-8

Congratulations to Rodney Mueller who bowled a perfect game of 300 Sunday in Salina Men's City Bowling Tournament. This achievement is rewarded with a gold ring from the United States Bowling Congress.

Georgia Spohn met Lenora Graham of Florence Wednesday at Hillsboro for dinner out. Georgia also met Lenora Monday at Hillsboro to attend the Learning in Retirement program at Tabor College and they enjoyed dinner out. Dr. Wilmer Harms of Newton spoke to the group about his experiences with Habitat for Humanity.

Jerry and Jeanne Rziha are the proud grandparents of Maria Diane Herron, born Feb. 16 to Jim and Diana Herron of Solomon. Maria weighed 7 pounds 2 ounces and was 19 inches long. Her paternal grandfather is Floyd Herron of Wichita. Bonnnie Haslouer of Abilene and Gertrude Rziha of Great Bend are the great-grandmothers.

Knights of Columbus met Monday evening at Hope for a corned beef and cabbage meal in memory of Mark Roberts. Roberts, a longtime member of K of C had requested this gathering before his death last month.

Lynn and Peggy Kleiber and Nicholas of Salina, Adeline Bernhardt, Edna Mueller, and Leona Kleiber enjoyed dinner out Sunday at Tampa. After dinner Nicholas spent the afternoon with Chris and Melissa Stuchlik and sons while Lynn and Peggy visited Leona. Late afternoon visitors of Leona were Andrea Kleiber and Dale Klenda.

Ashton Smith of Salina and Rustyn Kerbs visited Sunday evening with Reuben and Lucille Kerbs.

Greg Sklenar of Wichita spent Sunday with his mother, Lois Sklenar.

Anna Mae Stika, Lori Moldenhauer, Lisa Hanschu, and Anna and Haley Owens attended a bridal shower Sunday for Wendy Rudolph at the community center at Pilsen.

Steve Spohn and Sheri Kerch of Fayetteville, Ark., Ryan Spohn of Manhattan, Georgia Spohn, and Gary and Carole Spohn attended church together Sunday at Marion and enjoyed dinner out in celebration of Carole's birthday.

Andrew and Peter Herron of Solomon stayed from Feb. 16 to March 10 with Jerry and Jeanne Rziha and Julie. Diane Herron and Maria joined them Feb. 19 after being released from the hospital.

Reuben and Lucille Kerbs went Saturday to Abilene to attend their granddaughter, Taylor Thompson's basketball game. Taylor's father, Doug Thompson coached the team. Also present were Connie Thompson and Allison and a friend of Taylor, Carlie Phillips. After the game, all went out for dinner to celebrate Taylor's birthday.

Phyllis Mueller attended a gymnastics meet Saturday at Memorial Hall in Salina. Her granddaughter, Danielle Heath placed second all around.

Women enjoying dinner Friday at the newly opened Granny's Little Grill at Tampa included Eleanor Herbel, Shirley Hamm, Beryl Steiner, Agnes Steinert, Lorene Kleiber, Dee Duggan, Adeline Bernhardt, Leona Kleiber, Bonnie Crandall, Tillie Hein, and Helen Costello.

A group of Tampa people attended the Thursday evening production of "Evita" at Stieffel Theatre in Salina. Tampa's own Thomas Clegg had a leading role. Those attending were Jim and Mary Clemmer, Tom and Dee Duggan, Walt and Iona Dietrich, Alex and Jean Stuchlik, Margaret Jirak, Ruby Vinduska, Jane Vajnar, Julie Rziha, and Timothy Stuchlik.

Lorraine Havlik of Marion was a March 1 morning visitor of Adeline Bernhardt. They joined Leona Kleiber, Edna Mueller, Betty Mueller, and Lois Sklenar for coffee and rolls at the grand opening of Granny's Little Grill.

Autumn Chisholm and Katie and Grant Evans went March 1 to Kansas City to meet Jane Vajnar at the airport and bring her home. Jane had been on a two-week vacation with friends, Delbert and Madeline Stuive of Casa Grande, Ariz. Highlights of the trip included visits to the Arizona Sonoran Desert Museum, Saguaro Nation Park, Casa Grande ruins (the remains of an ancient Hohokam Indian settlement), St. Anthony's Greek Orthodox Monastery, St. Xavier Mission dating from the 16th century, and DeGrazia's art studio, as well as a brief trip to Mexico. This explains the absence of Tampa news in the past three papers and the presence of some outdated items in this week's news.

There was a good attendance Feb. 26 at the dinner and supper served by the Leos Club at the senior center.

Barney, Linda, and Megan Bernhardt of Wichita and Carrie Bernhardt of El Dorado were Feb. 26 dinner guests of Adeline Bernhardt.

Pastor Clark Davis conducted services Feb. 26 at the nursing homes in Hillsboro. Others attending and joining the residents in singing were Joyce Medley, Dennis Klein, and Leona Kleiber.

Adeline Bernhardt and Leona Kleiber accompanied Jim and Mary Clemmer Feb. 23 to Hope. They met Amanda and Andrea Kleiber at St. Phillip's church where they attended the funeral of Mark Roberts. Amanda and Andrea were Leona's dinner guests.
