Tampa: Softball tourney set for Aug. 26 years ago

The Tampa Community Association will sponsor a co-ed softball tournament Aug. 26 in conjunction with the Tampa State Bank hog roast and street dance. Any family, organization, or group of friends can assemble a team to compete. For more information call Carla Hajek at 785-965-7269.

Leona Kleiber visited Pearl Belton Wednesday morning.

Tom and Dee Duggan met Steve and Lisa Kite of Edmond, Okla., at McPherson Tuesday evening for supper out. Steve will be teaching at Fort Hays State University this fall.

Lucille Kerbs visited Leona Kleiber Tuesday afternoon.

Kristine Jirak, Julie Rziha, and Amanda Bina are spending Monday through Friday this week in Totus Tuus camp at Lyons.

Greg Sklenar of Wichita was a weekend guest of his mother, Lois Sklenar. Valerie Hampton of Hillsboro joined them Sunday.

Deb Hall and Kaylee of Herington and Tom and Dee Duggan spent the weekend in Topeka, where they met Darla Hall and Adam of Lee's Summit, Mo., and Ernie and Darlene Kite of Bartlesville, Okla. All enjoyed watching Adam compete in a three-day swim meet. On Saturday they celebrated Dee and Darla's birthday. Tom and Dee visited Don and Betty Frick at their home Sunday.

Andrea Kleiber and Leona Kleiber enjoyed dinner at the café Saturday, followed by an afternoon of visiting at Leona's home.

Reuben and Lucille Kerbs met Connie Thompson and Taylor in Abilene Saturday for dinner out.

Tampa's team made a significant contribution to Marion County's successful Relay for Life Friday night. Out of around $40,000 raised for the American Cancer Society by the event, the Tampa team collected more than $1,000. Team members collecting donations and/or walking included Walt and Iona Dietrich, Gary and Carole Spohn, Jesse and Rita Brunner, Nathan Brunner, Ronnie and Lisa Hanschu, Lori Moldenhauer, Anna Mae Stika, Nikki Stenzel, James Weber, Anna Weber, Mikayla Antoszyk, Phyllis Mueller, Jane Vajnar, Paula Morgan, Don and Ramona Beisel, Tom Duggan, and Kaylee Hall.

Jeanne and Julie Rziha were Friday overnight guests of Jim and Diane Herron, Andrew, Peter, and Maria in Topeka. The women attended Champions on Ice, a skating program by Olympic medalists at Kemper Arena in Kansas City Friday evening and went shopping Saturday.

Kristine Jirak returned Friday from a trip to Steamboat Springs, Colo. She won the trip by taking a test and being interviewed in a contest sponsored by Flint Hills Electric Cooperative.

Gary and Carole Spohn and Georgia Spohn spent the day in Manhattan Friday with Ryan Spohn, Adam and Lauren.

After walking with her grandfather at Relay for Life in Marion, Kaylee Hall of Herington was a Friday overnight guest of Tom and Dee Duggan.

Amy Briggs, Jordan, Lauren, and Emily of Orange City, Fla., and Sheyene Melmar of Deltona, Fla., spent from Wednesday to Saturday here visiting Tillie Hein and Jim and Kris Srajer, Grant and Cole.

Dee Duggan treated her neighbors to coffee and cake at the café Friday in celebration of her birthday, which was Saturday.
