Teens suspected of killing cattle, burning hay bales

Two Marion County juveniles were arrested Feb. 12 after a spree that left three cattle dead and more than $2,000 of hay destroyed.

The events unfolded the evening of Feb. 10 when the two teens obtained and drank alcohol. They then unlawfully entered a field near 350th and Remington roads where the two used a rifle and a shotgun to injure and eventually kill three head of cattle.

In the early morning hours of Feb. 11, the teens unlawfully entered another field, north of 330th and Remington roads, and ignited 20 large, round hay bales.

The pair was charged with arson, criminal trespass, cruelty to animals, and criminal damage, and transported to juvenile intake in Junction City.
