Therapist Ochs-Wheeler recognized for assisting family

Cheri Ochs-Wheeler of Marion recently was recognized for her work as a therapist.

Ochs-Wheeler was awarded a Kansas Oscars by Keys for Networking, Inc., June 24 at Red Rock Guest Ranch, Soldier.

Ten nominees were showcased who demonstrated outstanding work with Kansas families of children with serious emotional disturbances. The ceremony recognized those professionals and the families who nominated them with dinner, an awards ceremony, and live entertainment.

The award was presented to Ochs-Wheeler, a therapist with Marion Prairie View, Inc., because she helped resolve conflicts, develop strengths, and problem-solved difficult issues in a family's life. Hillsboro parent, Traci Anderson, nominated her for the award.

"Cheri has gone above and beyond in helping our family not only in therapy but also tirelessly working to educate school teachers and administrators about our daughter's disorder," said Anderson. "She will often bring literature and information to IEP and behavior plan meetings. She has made certain that the school has the most up-to-date mental health information. Cheri always has time to make our family feel valued and heard."
