Thief breaks in bus barn, steals pickup

Marion Police Department is investigating a break-in that occurred Saturday at the bus barn at Eisenhower and Main streets. A suspect broke in the building, owned by USD #408, and stole approximately $15 in change and a 1998 white Dodge extended cab pickup that belonged to a teacher. The investigation continues.

July 15: A lost bicycle was recovered and returned to owner. A lost motorist received assistance. An open business door was located; the owner was contacted and the building was secured. An officer met with subjects regarding a trespassing complaint and advised them to leave the property. U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks received assistance with an incident that involved numerous subjects at Marion Reservoir.

July 16: An open business door was discovered; the building was checked and secured.

July 17: Stolen property was returned to its owner. A subject met with an officer regarding lost property. The owner of cattle loose on South Third Street was notified; the cattle were caught and removed. A non-injury accident was investigated. A warning was issued for driving the wrong way on a one-way street. A lost motorist received assistance. Warnings were issued for illegal rear-facing rear lighting and failure to stop at a stop sign.

July 18: City crews were notified of a water leak. An officer responded to a house fire in the area of Cedar and Hudson streets; subjects were cooking outdoors.

July 19: An animal cruelty complaint was investigated in the area of South Third Street; the animal was OK. A warning was issued for illegal parking. Two benches were removed from the intersection of Main and Fourth streets. An officer met with subjects regarding a vehicle repossession.

Thursday: A runaway juvenile was reported, located, and transported to juvenile intake. An officer attended district court.
