Thieves rob abandoned building

Suspects entered an abandoned building, which formerly was used as a church, May 18 and took an air compressor, vacuum, two pipe wrenches, and a set of drill bits. The incident occurred at 330th and Bison, Durham. According to Marion County Sheriff Deputy Josh Whitwell, the thieves caused minor damage to bathrooms. The stolen items were valued at $525.

At 7:30 p.m. June 5, a suspect wanted to take another person's vehicle to purchase beer. The owner refused to let the suspect take the vehicle. The suspect then damaged the vehicle and struck the owner in the head and foot. The assailant was arrested for criminal damage and domestic battery. The incident occurred in Ramona, reported sergeant Jeff Soyez.

Sergeant Soyez stopped a suspect at 2:17 a.m. June 15 in Tampa after the suspect ran a stop sign. During a roadside investigation, marijuana and drug paraphernalia was found in the driver's possession and was arrested.

A suspect was arrested at 9 p.m. June 21 for no current insurance following a non-injury accident on 190th, west of Nighthawk. Undersheriff Randal Brazil investigated the incident.

At 10:30 a.m. June 24, a suspect was found passed out in his vehicle in the middle of Remington, near 120th, with the motor running. Deputy Josh Whitwell smelled a strong odor of alcohol. The suspect failed a sobriety test. Marijuana and drug paraphernalia also were found in the vehicle.

A suspect was stopped at 1:05 p.m. June 25 for driving while license is suspended. The suspect also was wanted on an outstanding Marion County warrant and was arrested for both offenses, reported sergeant Soyez.
