Thirteen file for council positions

Thirteen candidates have filed for four seats on the newly-formed Marion City Council.

The deadline for filing for the offices was noon Tuesday.

The candidates who filed, in alphabetical order, were Erik Billings, Stacey Collett, Jim Crofoot, Jim Davis, Roger Hannaford III, Max Hayen, Bill Holdeman, Melvin Honeyfield, Gerald Kline, Darvin Markley, Earl Mueller, Roger Schwab, and Gene Winkler.

Jim Crofoot has served on the commission since April 2, 1991. Max Hayen was appointed by the commission to complete commissioner Larry McLain's term when he resigned due to health reasons. Hayen had previously served one term as mayor.

Marion voters will have an opportunity to choose council members in the April 4 election.
