Thomas Orme
Thoams Edward Orme Jr., died March 2, 2008, at Rio Grande Regional Hospital, McAllen, Texas.
Born May 4, 1930, at Rushville, Ind., he was the son of Thomas and Viola Orme.
On Oct. 28, 1950, he married Joan Sorrell.
In 1947, he joined the U.S. Navy. He retired in 1969, after serving 23 years. He was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam wars.
He and his wife lived at Florence and spent winters in Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Martha Norvell.
Survivors include his wife, Joan of Florence; three daughters, Dianna Welch of Levering, Mich., Pennie Herbert of Rushville, Ind., and Melissa Funk of Florence; sister, Wanda Stevens of Rushville, Ind.; two brothers, William Orme of Indianapolis, Ind., and Kenneth Orme of Washington; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Florence United Methodist Church.
Memorial funds have been established with the American Cancer Society or Great Plains Assistance Dogs Foundation.
