Thousands enjoy Marion craft show

Organizers are pleased with another successful Art in the Park arts and crafts show held Saturday in Central Park, Marion.

Judy Christensen said the 220 vendors offered a variety.

"We had a lot of new items this year," Christensen said.

Crowd numbers seemed to be consistent with past years.

"We weren't too sure what to expect with the gas prices being higher," Christensen said. Gas prices did not deter several thousand people from attending the show.

Volunteers helped to make the show a success.

"Without the volunteer help from this community, we could not have pulled this off," said Christensen.

The group also appreciated the assistance from the Boy Scouts.

"We got the most compliments about the scouts," said Christensen. "Vendors have told us this is the only place they've been that offers this service and that's one of the reasons they come back."

Winners of $20 gift certificates with vendors were Iris Sanborn, Wichita; Denise Tiffany, Belle Plaine; Amy Martin, Salina; Jana Best, Andover; Twilla Trease, Claremore, Okla.; Gary Starks, El Dorado, and Rodney Schmidt, Bob Maxwell, and Gene Warnica all of Marion.
