Tod Gordon selected middle school principal honoree

Marion Middle School principal Tod Gordon has been selected as the Area III middle level principal honoree for the 2004-05 school year by the Kansas Association of Secondary School Principals.

The announcement regarding Gordon's honor was made during the Jan. 10 meeting of the Marion-Florence USD 408 board of education.

Gordon was one of 12 high school and middle school principals honored in November 2004 during the annual Kansas Association of Secondary School Principals Fall Conference at the Wichita Airport Hilton.

Eugene S. Haydock, KASSP executive director congratulated Gordon and the other honorees in a letter.

"I would like to congratulate you for this well deserved award," Haydock's letter said. "Everyone is proud of you."

Nominations for the award are made by KASSP members. A selection committee then determines the honorees.

Interestingly enough, Marion High School principal Ken Arnhold received the honor last year.

Gordon said he was honored to be selected as the area nominee.

"It's nice that people in the area put me up as a nominee," Gordon said. "After Ken getting the award last year it's neat that people feel we do a good job in the area."

This year's high school area III honoree was David Howard of Chase High School. The area III middle school assistant principal honoree was Max Heinrichs of Hillsboro.
