Tommy Thompson

Alva F. "Tommy" Thompson, 84, of Marion, died March 15, 2008.

Born May 10, 1923, at Augusta, he was the son of Alva L. and Edith (Perkins) Thompson.

He graduated from Augusta High School in 1941, and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the South Pacific.

On Dec. 16, 1946, he married Elizabeth L. "Betty" Frazier at Marion.

He worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a clerk, retiring in 1980. He then drove a school bus for 11 years.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Harold, Dean, and Dorwin.

Survivors include his wife, Betty of Marion; two daughters, Melody Keazer of Rogers, Ark., and Renda Robertson of North Newton; two brothers, Darrell and Lavonne, both of McPherson; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today (Wednesday) at Marion Christian Church.

Inurnment will be at Marion Cemetery.

A memorial fund has been established for the church in care of Zeiner Funeral Home.
