Torey Hett, Leann Thomas are MHS students of month

Marion High School seniors Torey Hett and Leann Thomas have been named students of the month.

Music has played a role in Torey's career at MHS. He's been a member of the band three years and jazz band two years. He was a cast member in the school play and musical three years, and competed on the forensics squad one year.

Torey was football manager all four years and competed in track two years.

A member of Aulne United Methodist Church, Torey is a member of the youth group and choir. When he's not busy with any of his other activities, he is employed at The Big Scoop.

Torey is the son of Dave and Michele Hett and Jamie and Bill Shirley, all of Marion. He resides at 1546 Sunflower in Marion. He has three sisters, Katie Hett, Phoebe Hett, and McKenzee Remmers.

Currently serving as president of Marion High School FFA, Leann has been a member of that organization three years. She also is a member of the Kansas High School Rodeo Association.

Sports have played a big role during Leann's time at MHS. She has been a four-year member of the volleyball and basketball squads, played softball three years, and ran track two years.

She's been a member of the school band four years and served as drum major.

Within the community, Leann has been a member of the Happy Hustlers 4-H Club 12 years. She is employed at Animal Health Center and during the summers as a lifeguard at Marion Swimming Pool.

Leann is the daughter of Tom and Patti Thomas, 2311 190th, Marion. She has one older brother, Joel.
