Two interns practice at Centre High School

Two practice teachers can be seen walking the halls of Centre High School this semester.

Joe Fisher is an intern in the agriculture education department. He is an ag education major at Kansas State University. Fisher said he is learning a lot under the tutelage of instructor Cary Granzow.

Fisher grew up at Bethune, Colo., which is in the northeast part of the state near I-70. He wasn't in FFA in high school but was active in 4-H.

After obtaining an associate's degree in animal science at Northeastern Junior College in Sterling, Colo., he transferred to K-State, where he decided to go into teaching.

He said he likes working with students and teaching a diversity of subject matter.

"Every day is a new day," he said. "It's a fun challenge."

Megan O'Dell hails from Florence. The Marion High School graduate is a senior at Emporia State University and is interning in the business education department at Centre.

O'Dell said she liked business classes in high school and considered accounting before deciding to be a high school business teacher.

"I like it a lot," she said of her experience at Centre. "I like the small school."

She is engaged to be married to Joel Thomas of Marion this summer and hopes to find a teaching job in the area.
