USD 408 hires, fires during special meeting years ago
Another scheduled for today (Wednesday)
Marion-Florence USD 408 board of education held a special meeting to discuss personnel for the 2008-09 school year.
Another meeting regarding personnel is scheduled for today (Wednesday) at 11:45 a.m.
The board reconvened after the session with the following decisions:
— hired Brenda Odgers of Clyde as Marion High School principal.
— accepted the resignation of Irma Piper as MHS library media specialist.
— hired Anne Leppke of Aulne as part-time middle school science teacher and part-time aquatics director.
— passed a resolution to notify Marion Elementary School teacher Autumn Priddy of its intent to not renew her contract.
— board member Keith Collett made a motion to not extend the contract of MHS business teacher Jennifer Owen.
Jan Helmer seconded the motion, but it failed by a vote of 4-3.
Duane Kirkpatrick also voted in favor of the motion.
Chris Sprowls, Kathy Meierhoff, Sarah Cope, and Lyle Leppke voted against the motion.
Since the motion failed, Owen's contract was extended.
