Valarion Stika

Valarion V. Stika, 75, died Aug. 25, 2005, at St. Luke Living Center, Marion.

Born April 6, 1930, on a farm near Youngtown, he was the son of Joseph and Mary (Oborny) Stika.

He attended school at Youngtown and was a lifetime resident of Marion County.

On Nov. 19, 1964, he married Delores Foth.

He worked at Riddle Quarry and 35 years for Cooperative Grain & Supply, Marion.

He was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church and the Catholic Workmen in Pilsen.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Dennis; and daughter, Shirley.

Survivors include his wife, Delores of Marion; two sons, Jerry and Kay Stika of Goessel and Dwayne and Elizabeth Stika of Marion; two daughters, Darlene and Tom Whitecotton and Lillian Leatherwood, all of Texas; a brother, Louis Stika Jr.; two sisters, Victoria Smolik and Henrietta Waner, all of Marion; 14 grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Monday morning at Our Savior Lutheran Church, Marion.

Casket bearers were Jeff Tomlinson, Doug Marler, Paul Swan, David Waner, Michael Pearson, and Travis Hamm.

Honorary casket bearers were Christopher Stika, Samantha Stika, Brendon Stika, and Chelsea Stika.

Debbie Steward was vocalist. Rose Davidson was organist.

Burial was in Marion Cemetery.

Memorial funds have been established with Newton Central Homecare and Hospice or Our Savior Lutheran Church.
