Vernon Lowden

Vernon L. Lowden, 81, of Peabody, died Feb. 12, 2005, at Veterans Administration Medical Center, Wichita.

Born Dec. 15, 1923, at Woodward, Okla., he was the son of Clarence and Inez Lowden.

On March 22, 1951, he married Millie McClellan at Benton, Ark. She died in 2003.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Philippines.

He was a former brake operator for Beech Aircraft.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, daughter, Sonja Riddle; son-in-law, Clyde Riddle; and brother, Clyde Lowden.

Survivors include two daughters, Myrna Wood of Peabody and Barb Gomez of Leon; and four grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Prairie Lawn Cemetery, Peabody, with Pastor Jim Pohlman officiating.

A memorial fund has been established with Peabody American Legion Avenue of Flags.
