VFW auxiliary delegates elected to district convention

The ladies' auxiliary to Ecker-Fulkerson-Slifer VFW Post 6958 met March 11 at the post home.

Donna Kreutziger, auxiliary president, conducted the meeting of nine members.

Communications were read from the department president, Jody Sullivan and general orders. Thank-you notes were read from Colmery-O'Neill VA, Topeka, and Country Sunshine Preschool.

Committee reports were presented by Karen Chaput, the veterans and family support chairman. She said three care packages will be sent in March to Nick Thornbro, Ryan Williams, and Jeremy Fisher.

Joyce Richmond, hospital chairman, said VA hospitals are in need of ditty bags, lap robes, walker and wheelchair pockets, and cloth napkins.

Mary Ford, Buddy Poppy chairman, said 1,000 poppies have been ordered.

Legislative PAC chairman Gerry Grentz reported seven auxiliary members attended the city council candidate forum at the Marion Senior Center. She also reported on cancer aid and research by reminding members of information in the national magazine.

The report on the soup supper benefit for the Ryan Newell family was a great success. The auxiliary had voted to hold the soup supper and was assisted by the VFW post and James William Miesse American Legion Post and Auxiliary. The support from the community made the event a great success.

Delegates and alternates to the 4th District convention to be held April 13 at Manhattan were elected.
