Voters encouraged to participate in presidential caucuses

Kansas Secretary of State Ron Thornburgh urged voters to make their voices heard in the upcoming Democratic and Republican party caucuses.

"The caucus system is the purest form of our democratic process. Kansas is uniquely positioned to be one of the deciding states in nominating a candidate for president and I encourage all qualified Kansans to participate in this important process," Thornburgh said.

"While the Secretary of State's office and county election offices do not have a role in the caucus, interested voters can contact their respective parties for more information."

The Democratic caucus is scheduled for Tuesday. The Republicans will caucus Feb. 9.
