Voters will choose commissioners Tuesday
Marion County voters will go to the polls Tuesday and decide the next Marion County Commissioner from district two.
Two Republican candidates are vying for the commission seat — Max Hayen and Dan Holub. No Democratic candidates filed for the position.
Republican Randy Dallke is the lone county commission candidate for district three.
Other Republican and Democratic candidates also will be eliminated.
Arch Naramore of Lawrence is challenging incumbent Sam Brownback, both Republicans, for the U.S. Senate seat. On the Democratic ticket, either Lee Jones of Lenexa or Robert Convoy of Shawnee will be selected by voters to challenge the Republican candidate in November.
Other contested matches are state Senate 17th district Republicans James Meier challenging incumbent Jim Barnett, both of Emporia. Democrat Sharon Karr of Emporia will meet the Republican candidate in the general election.
Township officers also will be decided in Tuesday's election.
The polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Marion residents who reside on the south side of Main Street may vote at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 320 S. Cedar. Marion residents who reside on the north side of Main Street may vote at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 229 N. Walnut.
