Warrior golfers ready to tee up

Staff writer

The Peabody-Burns High School golf squad seems to have balance for the coming 2008 season with three returning letterwinners and six other team members, including four rookies on the roster.

The squad has the potential to do well as a team and several members show promise as individuals on the greens.

The team opens Tuesday at the Herington Invitational.

Three lettermen return to the squad this season.

Senior Thomas McGee earned 10th and seventh place medals last season.

Junior Brian Wingert medaled at fourth and seventh during the season, and junior Joseph Zappone had a first-place finish at the Peabody Desert Classic and also earned fifth and 10th place medals.

Also returning to the team this year are two golfers with experience.

Senior Jason McClendon and junior Travis Pohlman played with the PBHS squad in the past, and should improve the make-up of the team.

Sophomore Martin Hofkamp, and freshmen Jason Wingert, Trevor Foth, and Jacob Gillet join the squad this year for their first year of competition.
