Warriors end season with loss

Marion High School girls' basketball team ended its season Tuesday night with a 61-37 loss at Hillsboro in the first round of sub-state.

Seniors Toni Gordon and Allie Maddox led the team with 12 points. Gordon grabbed five rebounds, had three steals, and three blocks, while Maddox contributed three steals and three rebounds. Adrienne Chamberland ended her senior season and career as well, and hauled in two rebounds. Marion's other senior Megan Hudson was unable to play with a knee injury.

The Warriors hung close with the Trojans, trailing just 12-8 after the first quarter. Hillsboro then outscored Marion 16-4 in the second to grab a 28-12 lead at halftime. MHS didn't give up, scoring 25 points in the second half, but it wasn't quite enough.

The loss came one game after Marion ended its regular season with a 56-48 victory at Sterling.

Gordon was high-scorer with 19 points and 11 rebounds, Maddox scored 14 points, and Erin Carr added 13. MHS finished the season 6-15.
