Warriors end season with loss to Lyons
Marion Warriors' softball team opened regional play May 17 against hosts Lyons Lions. Despite a valiant effort, Marion ran out of steam in the fifth inning and lost, 7-8, ending their season.
The Warriors started strong in the first inning with three runs. Lyons answered with one.
The Warriors had a scoreless second inning but Lyons added another run, bringing the score to 3-2.
Each team added two runs in the third inning. Marion maintained the lead into the fourth, but allowed Lyons three runs, giving them a two-run lead.
Marion got back in the game with two runs in the fifth inning, knotting the score at seven. Lyons added a run in the bottom of the fifth, sealing the victory and advancing to the second round.
